COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You know the expression, "A Velvet Glove and an Iron Fist"? It was coined to refer to a regime that used a soft exterior to hide its punishingly unforgiving nature. This seems an apt description for our Velvet Glove. Its placid appearance and unparalleled smoothness hide the truth; this is one fiendishly strong stout. Rich, chocolaty espresso dominates the flavor profile, with a velvety smooth texture that will haunt your senses.

Pours black with a dark tan head. Big chocolate aroma, sweet malts, vanilla and a hint of oak. Sweet flavors, dark fruits, chocolate, vanilla and roasty malt. Disappointing mouth feel, very light, light carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by mdfb79. Thanks Dan. The beer appears a near black shade with a lasting beige cap. The aroma offers dark fruit, roast, chocolate, respectively. The flavor follows suit, with prominent dark fruit and some roasted malt. Silky smooth and palate coating. Overall, a very pleasant and drinkable imperial stout. I would definitely have this again. Bottle at Craig’s. Inky black pour, almost no head save a thin beige ring. Big milk chocolate nose, liquorice, slight roast barley, soft mocha coffee. Palate is dark chocolate, rich liquorice, some toffee and a firm roasty backbone. Long warm roast finish, touch of liquorice, roasty bitterness. Light carb prickle but not too much. Lovely.

Pint at Gallo’s Tap Room on 9/12/12. Darkest brown pour with a thin tan head. Malty nose with notes of licorice and metal. Malty flavor with licorice and chocolate before a roasty coffee finish.

Pours super dark with a nice 2 finger reddish brown head. Aroma is underwhelming, some hints of raisins and licorice, no chocolate or coffee notes. Flavor isn’t that great either, atleast not for an impy stout, very weak, lots of dark malts, but its like a watery chocolate flavor, can’t taste the high abv. Not a bad beer, but its a horrible example of an imperial stout.

Bottle shared by my buddy Ian. Dark creamy pour, thin brown head. Aroma has sweet hints of dark bitter chocolate and slight coffee bean. Flavor is very malt forward. Nice chocolate flavor and a bitter finish.

750 ml bottle from Bevmo Valencia. Nose is chocolate, roast, espresso, and a hint of smokiness. Black with a big, long lasting, heavy lacing cinnamon head. Flavor is chocolate, a hint of bitterness, sweetness, raisins, and very light alcohol warmth. Very good, smooth drinking stout.

750 ml bottle. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch tan head that stayed around a while. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, it smells like roasted malt, dark fruit, espresso, bittersweet chocolate and some burnt/charred malt. Taste is mostly just like the aroma but the flavors seem stronger in comparison, and there’s also the addition of some anise. There’s a nice balance between the sweet and bitter flavors in this stout. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s creamy with good carbonation. This is the first Iron Fist beer I’ve had (since I think they’re new to Ohio), and I thought it was good. I’ll have to pick up some of their other brews now. $9.99 a bottle.
