You know the expression, "A Velvet Glove and an Iron Fist"? It was coined to refer to a regime that used a soft exterior to hide its punishingly unforgiving nature. This seems an apt description for our Velvet Glove. Its placid appearance and unparalleled smoothness hide the truth; this is one fiendishly strong stout. Rich, chocolaty espresso dominates the flavor profile, with a velvety smooth texture that will haunt your senses.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2014 On tap... Keg is marked as being filled September 30 (hopefully 2013?). Black color. Minimal bubbly ring of brown head around the edge that is indicative of an under carbonated keg. And yes, it is under carbonated. Tastes nearly flat, if not flat. Medium to bigger body. Smooth texture, good chewiness, light dry finish. Aside from the lack of the carbonation, this tastes and feels very good, just a shame that itís undercarbed. Great roast, espresso, dark chocolate. Hint of spice. Moderate to bigger bitter taste, light sweet. Light hint of the alcohol. Solid, tasty imperial stout. Sad that itís under carbed though. Would re-rate with a better example. 8/2/8/3/15

Update rate, 7/9/14: Retapped the keg. Tasting better now. Head is still minimal, just kind of bubbly. Still light carbonation, but doesnít taste flawed. Light spicy bite at the end, and big bitter taste, little bit of warmth. Pretty good, assertive flavorful imperial stout, though. Little smoke. Dark chocolate, light spice. 8/3/7/3/16 [scores updated]

Bottle from systembolaget. A complex smell of liquorice, chocolates, raisins and espresso coffee. Pours a solid black with a rich dark brown head. The taste is as good and as complex as the aroma. A richness in body and a well preformed mix in tastes makes it very enjoyable. However it lacks a bit of the creaminess which is common and so desirable in imperial stouts.

Taste is chocolate, coffee, grains, dark malts, licorice and hints of alcohol and ashes. Full body, medium to high carbonation. Fair enough imperial stout; kinda "common" but still tasty.

Exceedingly good. Only short fall would be the nose. Hides alcohol content very well. Wouldnít hurt to be a tad more bitter.
