3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark, very little head. Very thick nice full palate. Taste at the beginning is incredibly strong. One of the strongest tastes I’ve had. After a few sips, though, the taste mellows a bit and becomes slightly sweet with a bit of a bitter bite. Very nice, but....for the price point, there’s better stuff out there. Ahem, Sweet Josie...cough cough.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Pours a thick near-black color with a moderate bubbly tan head on it. Nose is darkly roasting with just a hint of some dark fruit in there, and reminds me of a RIS. Taste is roasty and quite smooth, with a coffee finish and just a hint of sweetness up front. Very nice brew.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
6/15/2011: Iron Fist Brewing Co. Velvet Glove... Aroma: Vanilla, generic chocolate, hint of grape, Appearance: Flavor: Milk chocolate, dark fruits, red grape (slightly tart); seems like it contains some lactose; Tom says "good breader" (inside joke); just a touch of cigar in the aftertaste. Palate: Medium to medium-full, ultra smooth. Overall: Tastes very much like Imperial Milk Stout; not a drain pour, but I’m not going to rave about it; The Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast was definitely a tough one to follow...

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle via trade a few years ago. No date is stamped, but it can’t be newer than mid-2011. Pours a deep, opaque brown with a finger of tan head that dissipates into a ring after a bit. Straightforward but nice aroma: rich roasted malts, espresso, dark chocolate, earth, char, and brownie. Flavor is the same, after taking a little while to open up. Has thinned a little in body, and the carbonation is low, but the mouthfeel is smooth and really satisfying nonetheless. Took a while to reveal its charms, but this turned out to be a nice imperial stout.

750 ml bottle to snifter (shared by phaleslu). Looks good; a dark and fairly opaque cola with beige lacing. Smells and tastes solid; dark malt and chocolate with some roast. Nice and smooth on the palate. Good beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Well executed imperial stout! Onyx pour with a tightly packed latte head. Mahogany around the very out rim, a sliver really. Otherwise, not a hint of light made it through this beer’s viscous body. Brownie batter, cocoa, fudge, hint of coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel reminiscent of the name...a velvet glove. Solid!
