Poured into my bruery tulip. Dark black with a one finger brown head, looks highly carbonated. Aroma is light, coffee and alcohol. Taste follows the nose, coffee, malts and alcohol. This is very sweet, definitely a sipper. The mouthfeel, makes you want to drink it faster because of how smooth it is but the sweetness slows you down, not a bad stout just not very complex. Leaves me feeling a bit indifferent. Would I drink it again? Yes. Would
I buy/stock up on this? No

Smell is a little fruity and chocolate. Kind of reminds me of a chocolate orange (just a little). Some chocolate in there too. This is interesting.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. A big tan head on a black beer. A nice nose of dark chocolate. A nice chocolate flavor with nice west coast citrus hops. This is nice and is almost a classic.

Draft at Churchkey. Very very dark brown pour with a small head. The nose and flavor are marked by brownie, sweet chocolate ganache, vanilla extract, and non-astringent coffee. Smooth, pretty good!

In short: White chocolate chip cookies, plenty of vanilla and coffee. Ok
How: Bottle 750ml. Consumed approximately 8 months after purchase, bottle forwarded to me by DaSilky1, thanks a lot Todd
The look: Black body topped by medium tan head quickly receding to a persistent small layer of foam
In long: Nose is mostly cookies and pastry with notes of white chocolate. I’m pretty sure I would not have guessed this was a black beer smelling it blind. Taste follows suit. Lots of sweet toasted cookies, honey, caramel, white chocolate, vanilla, graham cookies and a hefty dose of black coffee. Despite the obvious color and style I did not taste the usual black chocolate and dark roasted black malts, instead what I tasted was white chocolate chips cookies and lots of vanilla and coffee. Too often Imperial stouts are same-old same-old, but this Velvet Glove was something else so I’ll give it that, it stands out from the crowd but this is the kind of taste I grew tired of, I had a hard time finishing my bottle. Another bottle I drank because I had to, and if I ever manage to overcome my fear of sobriety for only one day, I will totally celebrate the moment by getting totally hammered.

750ml bottle. Dark brown almost black with a creamy, light tan head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt and a bit of alcohol. Flavor is rich bitter-sweet chocolate, roasted coffee and barley with very light alcohol heat. Full body with average carbonation and a thick mouth feel. This is a great Imp Stout, very well balanced and drinkable.
