COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A re-creation of a beer Jefferson would have had brewed at Monticello two hundred years ago.Deep reddish-brown, very full bodied, with a hint of toffee and a complex, malty finish. Aged on Oak chips. Raise a glass to your independence.

Tap at the Maple Shade location, from the hand pump. Beautiful dark honey brown with legs but no head. Nose is lightly sweet, spirits-level caramel and a single wisping fume. Light, watery-flat body, caramel with hugely heavy/thick sticky syrupy red berry/fruit and brush strokes of oak/vanilla on the side. Love the complexity here! And Im happy to see such rounded barrel effects are still possible without the barrels.

Aroma of licorice, chocolate, orange peel molasses. Pours thick and deep brown. Taste of chocolate, molasses, and oak. Very cool.

Malty aroma with hints of vanilla and prune. Hazy red-brown w/ thin tab head. Flavor is rich and cplex. Hints of the flavors from aroma plus some bourbon barrel. So good. Too bad its almost gone.

I dont often agree with the descriptions of the beers I rate but this one is spot on. Reddish brown, cloudy with just a thin line of foam. Very malty aroma with some caramel and toffee, maybe a hint of butterscotch. The flavor has the same with a nice taste of vanilla and the oak. Very potent as you feel the warmth on the throat.
