On tap at Media location. Exactly what the description stated...a boldly hopped brown. Amber brown pour with light colored frothy head and pretty good lacing. Caramel malt dominates with a lot of roast, hints of cocoa and even a touch of cherry-like fruitiness with a moderately bittering finish with hints of citrus. A good brown ale.

20091010 Tap at Maple Shade. Another well done brown ale from Iron Hill. So many breweries mangle these making them overly sweet, phenolic, or diacetyl, but Iron Hill’s takes on brown ale are consistently well attenuated, quaffable, and pleasant. Slightly peaty, coffee hints, and a nice kick of tame but tasty woodsy hops in a familiar east coast style. Very nice heft to the body, and clean, mildly bitter finish.

on tap in lancaster. hoppiest brown ale i have ever had, beautifully done. the sweetness and malt backbone of the brown ale is upped considerably by the hops. excellent balance and an incredibly drinkable session beer. this is the best brown ale i have ever had. well done!!

On tap at the Lancaster location. Served clear dark brown with a thin beige head in a shaker glass. The first glass I had left nice sheets of lacing all down the glass marking every sip. The second glass I had left no lacing. The smell was very hoppy, lots of citrus, some floral, and a bit of toastiness. The roasted grains really came forward in the flavor giving some dark toast and cocoa character while the hops balanced it perfectly with fresh grapefruit, grass, and floral. Bitterness is present but not to IPA levels. An amazingly balanced beer and easily my favorite beer I have ever had from Iron Hill.
