3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at cgarvieuk’s. Pours a cloudy brown, with a very small ring of bubbles around the edge. Dark fruity nose, raisins, plums, with noticeable alcohol.
Very sweet aroma. Taste follows this - really quite sweet. There’s caramel there, and similar dark fruits, but not as strongly as in the nose. Full bodied, small but pleasant carbonation, alcohol on the finish. A lingering sweetness too. Really quite nice.

bottle thanks to Daniel, I believe, shared at the Black Sunday BA Tasting in Houston. Pours a cloudy brown with an off-white head. Nose is of caramel and overripe fruit. Taste is the same caramel, overripe fruit and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is medium-thin. Less mouthfeel than expected from a barleywine. Definitely less than expected. Glad I didn’t pay for it as I’ve come to expect that Iron Hill charges premium prices for less than premium beer.
