At Maple Shade. Hazy orange with lasting thin foamy beige head; aroma is complex array of spice sweet grains and hops; Flava pops with hops but is blended nicely with some sugary sweetness and dry grain; feels medium with nice foamy zing; finishes very bitter with some spicy hop notes
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 theisti (2843) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - FEB 21, 2013
4 oz sample at Iron Hill Maple Shade, New Jersey. The pour is an amber copper with a loose off white head. The aroma is fruity Belgian yeast, along with banana and a bit of citrus. The taste is initially the Belgian yeast fruit banana, then turns to pine and orange citrus hop bitterness. The palate is medium to light bodied, softer carbonation, and a dry yeasty finish. A bit muddled, though still tasty.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BiddleBrau (776) - Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 5, 2012
On tap at IH Chestnut Hill - Hazy straw colored with dense white head. Big citrus pine nose. Fuller palate. Hops are cloying, malt provides good body, but not too much to diminish hop profile or being too sweet. Decent. I’d do this again.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 hopdog (7732) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 18, 2011
On tap at NW. Poured a cloudy golden color with a smaller sized off white head. Citrus, floral, yeasty, fruity, with some toastiness.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 pilgrimoutlaw (508) - Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 19, 2011
On tap at Earth Bread King of Iron Hill Event. Pours cloudy yellow/orange with white head. Aromas of bread/pine/coriander. Moderately bitter. Starts out well, but the flavors quickly become muted and bland by the time you reach the bottom of the glass.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 PapaSkeetSkeet (681) - Corvallis, Oregon, USA - AUG 16, 2011
Light amber with thin cream head. Aroma is full of american hops, floral mainly (simcoe??) and only slight clean fruit. Flavor is also dominated by the hops but with a slight touch of banana and berries from the yeast and only minimal phenols and higher alcohols. this is the best Belgian IPA I’ve had, it does well by restraining the yeast character enough to let the hops shine.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 eaglefan538 (2779) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - AUG 3, 2011
On draft at the Lancaster location, pint that closed out the night. The pour was amber orange with a generous white head and rings of lacing all the way down. The aroma was that styrofoamy hoppiness with some phenolic yeast character behind it, bready yeast, floral character. The flavor followed with citrus and spicey character mixed in. Full bodied, clean finish. YUM.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Goodgrief (1726) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - MAY 29, 2011
At Media location. Orange, amber po ur. Huge citrusy, spicy nose. Flavor was intensely hoppy with herbal, earthy flavors. Spices and zingy. You can really taste the rye. Really grainy as well. Kind of a large mish-mash of flavors, maybe one too many. Either a rye IPA or a Belgian IPA, but both made this a little chaotic tasting.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 abcfan (591) - New Jersey, USA - APR 7, 2011
Decent brew. Pours amber-orange with a white head, leaves decent lacing behind. Aroma of sweet citrus hops and candi yeast. Easy to drink, smooth spiced finish.
