Walt (2257), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 31, 2006 Pour is dark ruby brownish black with a thin dense brown head...smell is roasty cocoa and faint cherry...taste is roasty chocolate wit subdued cherry and coffee... PWalk (332), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2006 Had it twice about a month apart.
Newly on tap in May the beer didn’t have much of a fruit profile to it. Standard stout maltiness with a smooth character but in no way was there a cherry presence.
Had it on tap again on 7/8/06 and still didn’t notice much in the way of fruit. Decent stout with a great mouthfeel. NIce and smooth character. Just was looking for more cherry. DocLock (4047), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 8, 2006 Draft at Media. Brown pour with ruby menisci. Aroma of slightly rauchy roasty malt, slight cherries, some brown sugar and chocoff. Medium to light palate with flavors of roasty malt, still with the slight rauchy undertone, plus some brown sugary, chocoffy notes. Not too tart, but not what I would call sweet either. Not bad. michael-pollack (1319), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2006 Draught @ Media: I am not sure I could have possibly had the correct beer based on others’ rating. Anyway... Had a slight aroma of black cherries. Ruby in color. Clear. Medium sized light brown head. Good lacing. Flavor of alcohol. Like drinking a glass of vodka. More of a shot than a beer. Needs a much bigger malt backbone. Barely tastes like black cherry. I feel like I should be drinking this out of a shot glass not a pint glass. weeare138 (924), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 6, 2006 Thanks to hopdog for sharing this growler...
Appears a dark brown with mild red edges when held up to the light. Mild light tan head that quickly fades out.
Smell is of light cherries with mild roastyness, butterscotch, brown sugar, caramel, hops.
Taste is of the same aromas with a mild coffee flavor in the mix.
Mouthfeel is creamy, slightly sweet, mildly thin, along with a bitter dustiness.
