doogie (24), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 26, 2008 On tap in Lancaster - Dark with a creamy, lasting white head. Aroma of roasty grains and chocolate with a hint of bourbon. Tastes much the same as aroma - a mild hop start and then a mix of coffee, chocolate, roasted grain and just enough bourbon to make it special. Served on Nitro so it was rich and creamy.
On of my favorite All-time beers! ChainGangGuy (1463), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Appearance: Pours a clearish, dark brown body with a teeny, tiny ring of beige-colored bubbles.
Smell: Sweet-smelling, chocolatey aroma full of dark maltiness and all the obligatory bourbon notes of wood, vanilla, brown sugar, and shaved coconut.
Taste: Rich, dark malt taste with a medium sweetness. Milk chocolate malt balls - like a mouth full of Whoppers. Again, all of the expected bourbon aspects, all of them expertly blended; nothing overbearing or obnoxious. Sweetish finish with a fair amount of wood.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Very mild carbonation.
Drinkability: Iron Hill sure does get these bourbon beer GMCC2181 (309), Bear, Delaware, USA Apr 26, 2008 Pig Iron vs. Bourbon, what a good idea! On tap at Newark location. Pours a black color with a small tan had. It took a minute for it to settle. Aroma was a bourbon, vanilla and malt. Taste was awesome. Just the right amount of bourbon, touch of vanilla and roasted malt just like the Pig Iron. Texture was thick, but not syrupy. Pretty easy to drink since it was smooth. Over all a awesome brew!
