GMCC2181 (324), Bear, Delaware, USA May 21, 2008 Nitro tap: Wlimington location, Dark in color with a small coffee colored head. Aroma was vanilla and bourbon. Taste was the same, bourbon, vanilla plus alcohol. It was pretty smooth but you could taste the alcohol. Good lacing, thick in texture overall a good beer but not as good as the regular IH RIS. TomDecapolis (2371), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA May 1, 2008 Thanks to egajdzis for sharing this 750 ml bottle. Pours a deep black with hints of some amber and a smaller bubbly off white head. Aroma vanilla, oak, bourbon, milk chocolate, light alcohol, caramel, light roasted malt, toffee and some cherry. Flavor of vanilla, oak, caramel, coffee, toffee, molasses, alcohol well hidden, sweet maltiness and lightly roasted malt. shp555 (1373), lilburn, Georgia, USA Mar 15, 2008 Pours a black color with no head. Aroma is malty, bourbon, vanilla, oak, roast, and alcohol. Flavor is malt, caramel, molasses, roast, a hint of coffee, oak, vanilla, and a sweet alcohol finish. ChainGangGuy (1474), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Mar 14, 2008 Appearance: Simply put, it pours a black, still body.
Smell: Strong, redolent scent of dark malts and fine bourbon, with notes of chocolate, dark brown sugar, burnt wood, and if you breathe in deep, some dark caramel.
Taste: Dark malts with a distinct chocolate taste. Medium sweetness. All the expected bourbon notes are present: brown sugar, vanilla, and wood. Slight earthy bitterness. A roastiness emerges and lasts till the sweetish, warming finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Nil on the carbonation, but this is a handbottle, so whaddya expect?
Drinkability: There’s not really anything to discuss, it’s just plain GOOD.
