3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Dorwart (2266) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - FEB 8, 2009
Good sized fluffy white head of fine bubbles. Good carbonation. Fruity aroma with some pear, white grapes, yeast and spices. Hazy, apricot brown. Hmmm. Roasty and bitter flavor. Not at all what I expected from the aroma. Some belgian qualities but the flavors are really all over the place. Herbal notes, sticky malts, yeast and bit of fruit and lots of spices. Noticable alcohol presence. Finishes sweet and spicy. Not a very good example of the style and not a beer that I would recommend.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 surfmurf (85) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 24, 2008
I happened to buy the 750 ml bottle fresh packed and tried it the following day. It was still very fresh, bubbly head with a nice lacing. The smell reminded me of Sierra Nevada pale Ale but the flavor was much more vibrant.
It packed a bit of a kick ( I think the alcohol content is more like a malt liquor). Overall a nice beer to try but at 18.25 a bottle its a bit pricey but well worth a try.

750ml bottle via trade with Swolf3, thanks again Steven. poured a hazy yellow, white head. Lemony aroma too it. Citrus acidity in the flavor almost like a fruit beer. Very light tasting for 8.5%, an ok beer.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2010 My Bottom Line:
Spicy hops and tropical fruit esters rise from the doughy yeast in this round and clean Belgian Strong Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy blond.
-The spicy hoppiness tries to dry up the back end, but the finish is mostly yeasty and alcoholic. This spiciness is redolent of lemongrass at times.
-Citrusy fruitiness wants to coalesce with the yeast profile.
-The flavor profile is quite pleasant, and the overall experience is nearly authentic.
-The bottle was slightly better than the tap version which I had had at the brewpub.
On tap at the Wilmington brewpub, and from the bottle.
