The beer pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma has some nice cherry and chocolate character as well as some oak. The flavor is more complex. At first I get a heavy amount of sherry but that is complimented by some oak , chocolate and roasted malt. There is also some tart dark fruit character that goes very well with the other components. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle #9 courtesy of egajdzis. Poured a very dark cola with a medium beige head and minimal lacing. Aroma includes cherry, almond, and a hint of Brett. Taste begins with enjoyable tartness followed by a wave of sherry flavor before a subtle roastiness and dark chocolate leading to a smooth finish. Wonderfully drinkable with tart flavors lingering long after the finish.

Pours thick unclear dark brownish black with a smaller dark beige head. The aroma brings some acetone and sweet wild yeast, enjoyed. The flavors bring the sherry barrel, wild yeast, and funky ending. The body isn’t as thin as expected and I think this bottle held up so well in the 4 or 5 months since the release.

Tasted at the RBBWG 2013 - thanks Gene! Pours super dark prit near opaque black/brown with almost no head. Smells of damp wood, dark fruit, a touch of alcohol. The taste is very dank & damp wood, some fruit & then woody dryness on the aftertaste. Body is light/medium with low carbonation. Interesting, woody but that is about it for me.

Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: pretty sour, woody, bit dusty, lactic acidity. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit roasted, sour touch, tobacco, earthy, dusty, wood notes. Afteratste: mocha, some roasted coffee, sour touch, little bitter. Meh.

Martinus (1795) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 22, 2013
Dark brown colour, no head to speak of, white rim. Aroma of wine vinegar, molasses, light sherry in the background and wood. Rather sweet flavour, light sour touch, light sherry, molasses and soy sauce. Malty finish, finally some pronounced sherry, candy sugar and a light touch of wine vinegar.
