COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American interpretation of a classic Polish smoked wheat beer. Brewed with 35% smoked malt and 40% malted wheat this beer will have a light fruity tartness with a subtle smokiness and a dry finish.

Tap, Newark. Pours a hazy orangish copper body with a small wispy white head. The nose is just wonderful, lots of smokiness with some darker wheat, light meaty notes, and some light yeast.. The flavor is nicely smoky with plenty of campfire goodness, nice yeastiness throughout. I don’t get much, if any, tartness from this. Very soft mouthfeel, medium bodied, perfect gentle carbonation. Excellent stuff. I love this style.

On tap at Newark location. I really liked this. Pour was golden with amber hues and a frothy head. Standard hefeweizen flavors with banana, wheat and some apple/pear flavors reminiscent of a weizenbock. A mild smokiness was also present to round this baby off. Sweet, but still light and refreshing. Very good.

On draft at Newark brewpub. Poured a hazy deep golden color with a frothy whitte head. Has a light wheat aroma with just a hint of smokiness. Flavor is a rich citrusy sweet malt and wheat that is well balanced with a mild bitter hops and a delicate smokiness that comes thruogh in the finish. Medium bodied easy drinker with nice flavor.

UPDATED: MAR 6, 2010 Re-rate, 2/10, draft Newark. Original rating stands. Nice stuff. Original Rating: On draft at the Newark location. Pour was hazy to cloudy straw colored with a nice head and solid lacing all the way down. The aroma was wheaty with some yeast and smokiness. The flavor followed, definite wheat base, firm smoke support, yet not overpowering, yeast in the finish along with what seemed to me to be a rye bite, although the bartender said she was not aware of rye being in it. Standard hefeweizen fruity esters were highly subdued, near nil, an interesting brew. Full bodied, hearty, refreshing drink.

Draft @ Newark. Golden-amber color with a nice sweet & smoky aroma that features citrus and meat. Flavor has a nice interplay between meaty/smoky flavors and sweet/citrusy ones. Nice mouthfeel. Overall a really cool Iron Hill beer that they need to get out to the other locales!

Growler thanks to Gabe the Man. Pours a light, fizzy looking creamy dark yellow. Not much of a head, but some good lacing. Aroma is a tad weak, grass and just a touch of smoke, but a nice meaty/malty backnone that carries over into the flavor. Flavor is like a nice, smoley hotdog. An acidic tartness that brought down my palate score. Overall, this is a nice, thin, sessionable smoke beer. Not big and bold, but very nice in it how it subtly combines its aspects together. Nice.

Draft in Newark. Poured into a mug with a frothy bright white head. Aroma of smoked malts. Tastes of smoked malts, light sweet fruit (oranges), lightly tart with a nice smoked dry finish. Very drinkable, in fact I had 2 mugs of this. I could have drank this all night. I regret not grabbing a growler. Gotta love a smoked Pol.

Draft at the newark location. Poured into a lager glass. Nice head. Weak aroma of some light smokiness. Taste is intially just some light malt taste, hint of orange and some earthy notes. The aftertaste has a nice smokiness to it. Dry as well, nothing lingers around. Wouldnt of guessed it but a nice smoke beer...not overdone at all. The texture is a little on the lighter side but not watery, easy to drink. Overall a solid beer, that was very enjoyable
