hopdog (4568), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 24, 2008 On tap at the North Wales location. Poured a medium brownish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of roast, chocoloate, and some pepper. Tastes of roast, chocolate, caramel, and pepper. The pepper wasn’t overpowering but it did have a peppery hot finish. acrdz (4302), Boulder, Colorado, USA Apr 5, 2008 Updated: Apr 6, 2008Handbottle thanks to egajdzis. Peppery nose of roast and chocolate, the peppers are evident, but it’s more of a pulpy fruit character in the nose. Flavorwise it’s peppery, spicy and chocolate up front, then develops some very mild pepperiness and heat on the back, but most of what is tasted is the chocolate malt and chocolate syrup flavor. Pretty good, gets extra points for being unique. goldtwins (3734), Nesconset, New York, USA Mar 22, 2008 Poured deep brown with a ruby tint and thin beige head. Roasted malt, chocolate and mild green pepper. Light roasted malt and a mild pepper burn on the finish. Not bad but not big on the pepper like I would have liked. I had to add this comment. Why does this burn? Is this high in alcohol?. My wife thought I was trying to get her drunk and lied about the ABV (which I usually do). I didn’t tell her it was a spiced beer. Mainly because I am trying to get her drunk. egajdzis (2970), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 24, 2008 Poured a murky, red / brown / black color with a small, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, light vanilla, and a bit of smoke as well. Taste of roast, some chocolate up front, a bit of sweet toffee, and a smoky, hot, peppery finish. TomDecapolis (2419), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 23, 2008 Pours a lighter brown with amber notes and a medium creamy/bubbly tan head that left some lacing. Aroma of chocolate, lots of grainy malt and a touch of pepper. Flavor of chocolate, toasted malts, some caramel and a lingering peppery bite. Interesting how the habanero heat lingers and compliments the beer. Still not sold on peppers in beer.
