Tap at Maple Shade. Pours out a cloudy light golden color with a small white head. Aroma is of some spices, light fruity yeast, and a nice citrus hop note. Taste is complex for the lower AVB, wheaty malt notes, spices, some nice citrus hop bitterness in there on the finish and throughout. Definitely a good wheat beer.

ROGUE (1581) - Newark, Delaware, USA - AUG 30, 2011
On tap at Newark Brewpub. Pours a cloudy, unfiltered deep golden color with a small foamy white head and some lacing. Aromas of banana and clove, with nice citrus tones and peppery hops. Initial flavor of tropical fruits and yeast that led to banana and mild wheat through the middle. Finished with a nice citrus spicey dry hoppiness with a little kick. Crisp medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.

In short: Fresh banana-hefe and plenty of grapefruity/citric hops. Wonderful
How: Tap at brewpub, Maple Shade location NJ
The look: Cloudy yellow body topped by a medium white head
In long: Nose has the fresh bananas I’m expecting from a german hefe but also a whole lot of grapefruity hops. Taste is fresh bananas, notes of mangos, lots of moderately bitter grapefruits, some lemon, some green pine needles. The dominant flavors of bananas and bitter white grapefruits worked so well together in a way I had never experienced before. Tasty and very refreshing. Full and lively body. This is quite a treat for a below 5% beer. I’d like to tell everybody who love the same beers as I do how good I thought this was but I don’t feel like talking to myself right now.

20110530 tap at Newark, listed as Hoppy Weiss. Cloudy golden with lingering white froth. Aroma is hoppy as all get-out with lots of grapefruit and light pine, mild pizza dough, mild lemonade, some hefe yeast, clove. Airy, nicely carbonated, a tad prickly. Brilliantly bitter finish which is super refreshing without the dumb sweetness of many hoppy wheats. Loved it. Gonna bring a growler to rbsg.

On tap in Maple Shade. Very nice hoppy alternative. Pours amber with a creamy head. The aroma has some of the Belgian notes and a lots of hops. The flavor is nice and hoppy with some pepper along with some clove and banana. The finish is dry and clean.

Golden pour with a nice size head. Aroma of sweet banana, spice, and citrus. Flavor has a classic W-Bock/Hefe sweetness with all of the standard fruits plus a nice dose of earthy hops and spice. Really nice. 4.2%?!?! My ass.

Huge thanks to GMCC2181 for sending this one my way. What a nice beer. Pours a nice orange with a big thick bone white head. Aroma is great, bananna, clove, a touch of smoke, and a a bit of biscuit. Flavor is even better, lot of hops, meat, clove. A touch of yeast and bitterness as well. Creamy mouthfeel. I liked this one a lot. Thanks Gabe!

Draft at IH Newark... Poured into a weizen glass. Glowing orange color good head... Great aroma of hops and banana... Taste is lots IPA characteristics vs Hefeweizen characteristics... Best of both worlds?? Not an overdone bitterness or banana taste. Light spices... Very enjoyable and unique... I dont know why... I just think these two styles should never meet even though I enjoyed it.... Texture was heavier then most hefe. Overall a unique beer that I enjoyed. Thanks to eaglesfan for letting me know this was on tap!
