4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Thanks to a great PA trader that hooked me up with a growler of an unbelievable "under the radar" beer.
A - pours a honey color with 2 fingers of off white head.
S - Floral hops, citrus, pine, malt, and some alcohol. A very big hop nose.
T - All pine at first, but once it warms you get a lot of mango and pineapple. The light caramel malt provides enough balance to really show the hops off while still making it very drinkable.
M/D - Oily mouthfeel with spot on carbonation for a 10%+ DIPA. So easy to drink it’s dangerous.
An absolutely great growler that still had good carbonation 24hrs after it was opened. My girlfriend even drank a pint and she is not a fan of IPAs or DIPAs.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served on-tap at Iron Hill Lancaster on release day.
A – Pours out hazy amber orange with a small cap of white head leaving light rings of lacing down the glass.
S – Smells of bright citric hops, sweet caramel malt, and a touch of booze. The oily hops are strong but the sweet malt helps reign them in a bit. Good overall balance throughout.
T - Plenty of caramel sweetness up front quickly giving way to a big citric hop punch that lingers for the rest of the experience. The finish is a mix of hop bitterness and malted sweetness. The malt is strong in this one, although my second glass had a bit more hops to it. I could have drank this one all day. My hoppy burps actually tasted better than the beer lol.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Sticky sweet feel with plenty of hop bitterness in the finish, lingering for some time.
O - I really enjoyed this one. The hops were strong and it was well balanced. If anything the sweet malt was beginning to wear on me but then the hops would come back and dull that out. It was not as good as last years but it is still a very good beer none the less.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Growler shared at Franks. Pours a clear golden copper body with thin white lacing. Aroma is caramel malt. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with sweet caramel malt flavors dominating. Not too much of a hop profile.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma has nice citrus...justa touch of buttery/maltiness...faint though. Flavor has good bitterness...grapefruit and citrus rind...light maltiness coming through. Mouthfeel is medium and the finish is grapefruity/earthy bitter and dry.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Growler shared by drabmuh. Thanks Matt!
The beer appears clear and orange colored, with a white head that leaves good lacing in its wake. The aroma brings a heavy dose of hops and citrus...outstanding. The malt profile is very light - only enough to support the beer - again, well done. I had this brew next to some outstanding DIPAs, and it certainly stood its ground. The beer has a slight sweetness that slowly grows as I progress through the pint, but it’s nowhere near cloying. Overall, this was a fabulous beer, and one I would most definitely enjoy having again and again.

In short: Another superb archetypical piney/fruity amber American IPA
How: Growler shared during the RSBG 2011 bus trip (called Iron Hill Kryptonite Double IPA)
The look: Slightly cloudy amber body topped by a medium off-white head with medium retention
In long: The hoppy nose is mostly pine-tree with a side of citrus fruits. Malt bill has fresh crunchy lightly toasted cereals with a moderate sweetness. Rather thick body. The pine-tree and citrus fruits hops provide an adequate balance, this is not a hop-bomb which is a good thing because the cereals were pretty damn nice. Once again, nothing new or original about this beer but I just can’t get enough of very well made American IPAs. This beer is yet another reason why I drink too much. You know you are drinking too much beer when you start getting heartburns, high blood pressure and life seems to always be a lot of fun.
