Bottle at RBSG Grand Tasting. Pours amber red with an off white head. Tart fruity aroma with toast and cherries. The flavor is fruity sweet with cherries and sweet malts. Good stuff.

750mL at RBSG 2011 in Philly. The pour is a flat cloudy pink. Nose is metallic and papery with intense medicinal cherry. Taste is sweet, medicinal, papery and chalky with metals. Pour palate. Ick.

Bottle at RBSG. Pours red. Nose and taste of cherry, oak, fruity esters, yeast, light candi sugar, sweet malts and some light funk. Mild tartness. Some very minor medicinal notes at times. Medium body.

hazy chestnut. Nose is watery, light pepper and yeast, heavy oak with warmth, thin pepper and a light brown sugar. Light heat at front, thin medicine through middle with heavy yeast, light sugar, walnut through moderate, dry, peppery finish, a lightly green pistachio note at room temp.

Sweet and tart cherry nose with a bit of yogurt and funk. The taste is moderately sweet, moderately tart, with medicinal cherry, caramel and purport yeast. Rather astringent.

Bottle shared by MrChopin. Pours clear ruby/brown with a medium, fizzy off-white head, medium-short retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel), light hops (floral), and average esters (fruity) with notes of cherry, oak, and dates. (750ml bottle, courtesy of thirdeye11) Pours a hazy amber body with a spare off-white head. Aroma of oak, cherry, raisins, vanilla, and wood. Flavor of oak, cherry, Belgian yeast, dark candi sugar, light chocolate, and caramel.

Big thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. Not sure of the vintage, but it has been in thirdeye’s cellar for nearly a year. The regular version was great and I expect this one to be as good or better. The beer pours a reddish-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the tart cherries with a little bit of other dark fruit and some dark malts. Still, this beer smells like a sour cherry beer. The flavor is more of the same. I get a little bit of toffee malt and some alcohol, but what really stands out is the tart, sour cherries. There is very little quadrupel in the flavor or aroma. It has been a while since I had the beer, but this reminds me of Iron Hill Kriek de Hill. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. An outstanding beer, just not sure where the quadrupel went. Still, this is one of the best beers I have tried and very worthy of a high rating.

Had this while camping at BCTC this year. Pours a hazed gold orange with a thin white head. Soft light cherry, dark malt, light brett. Light cherry, touch of nuttiness. Crisp lingering malt, and sweetness. Tasty stuff.
