750mL bottle split with bologna. Pours hazy, cloudy dark red body with small off-white head. Some lacing. The aroma is dark fruit - prunes and raisin. The taste is malt, barley, and some strong alcohol.

In short: A rich caramelized yet very fruity juicy beer. Excellent.
How: 750ml bottle, 4 years old (2004 vintage). Tasting session on my roof with Montreal crew
The look: Cloudy orange-copper body with a medium beige head
In long: Luxuriant full body with a crunchy rich caramel flavour. Toffee, citrus fruits and apricots join in. That beer skilfully mix an almost decadent maltiness with a juicy hopping. Some earthy notes. An overall extra smooth feeling despite the heavy flavour profile. Yet another Old Ale that is different from just about all other Old Ale I’ve had, I really don’t get that style but this beer was excellent. It was a 2004 bottle drank in 2008, I guess that makes it a Very Old Ale.

Bottle shared by EDA, I think he said 2004? Funky, cheesy aroma, dank and sweaty. A bit oxidized, sherry, grape, light mint malt. Age has beat this one down a little. Could be much better fresh.

Blind tasting at Papsoe. Cloudy amber colour with a white head. Aroma of malt, caramel and sweet sugar. Funny flavour of malt, sweet caramel, hints of honey and siryp, ends up bitter and alcoholic-sweet.

Oct. 2006 - 2004 Version thanks to eaglefan538. Dark oak color pour, nice head. Strong aroma of caramel. Rich caramel flavor, warm flavor of alcohol, molasses, some fruitiness (cherries maybe?) and a touch of butter. Bitterness from the yeasties came out as it warmed. Complex, rich, spicy. Wonderful!

An aroma of raisins or other dried fruit. A light brown our with a hint lite brown head and lace. A flavor that is mostly fruit. Very good carbonation and mouthfeel. From old notes I almost gave up on finding this beer on the site.

2004 Bottle shared with Axilla at Lancaster Iron Hill. Poured an amber color with a beige head. Carbonation is very good. It looked like champagne with the way the light was shining through the glass. Taste was sweet with caramel and hints of nuttiness to it. Raisins and dark fruits were evident. Spices balanced well. Very nice.

Muddy amber colour with a beige head. Malty, caramel and fruity sweet aroma with notes of alcohol and hops. Malty, caramel sweet flavor with fruity and hoppy notes.

2004 Bottle. Orange-brown pour with a light tan head. Aroma of spices, musty malt and candied fruits. Flavors of caramel malt, light spices and lemon zest. Medium body, sweet/spicy with a sweet finish.

From bottle, blind tasting at Papsoes - beer no 13. Pours hazy orange with a lacing off-white head. Astringent hoppy citric/herbal aroma. Dry. Flavour has a slight woody note to a medium dry malty aroma. Somewhat herbal. Finish holds a slight liqourice note to a rather dry finish without getting too bitter.
