4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Miver (607) - Silver Spring, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 28, 2007
2004 Bottle shared with Axilla at Lancaster Iron Hill. Poured an amber color with a beige head. Carbonation is very good. It looked like champagne with the way the light was shining through the glass. Taste was sweet with caramel and hints of nuttiness to it. Raisins and dark fruits were evident. Spices balanced well. Very nice.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hezron (604) - Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 16, 2006
2004 bottle thanks to MIBRomero for sharing. Sweet caramel, buttery malt goodness with some malted chocolate notes. Hint of subtle hops. Ruby-amber-brown with a thin off-white head. Wow, flavor is tasty...like malted chocolate balls, intense but subtle. I like that it is sweet but not cloying. Medium full body, creamy texture. Nice.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Ofortuna (322) - Grafton, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 21, 2007
2004 holiday vintage. Huge caramalization on the nose. Very smooth and velvety texture in the body. The caramalization just clings to your palate for dear life well after the finish. Strong notes of vanilla, brown sugar and creme Brulee.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sombeast (151) - Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 16, 2006
UPDATED: DEC 23, 2006 Sampled at the Falls Tasting: Deep toffee aroma. Cloudy mottled brown with a light head. Flavor of liquid chocolate candy with a dark toffee interior. Mild residual coffee bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 beermaniac (86) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 25, 2004
Aroma: Grassy, hoppy aroma present, although it was very fleeting and not real profound. Some caramelly malt in the nose also.
Appearance: Murky light brown, with head that didn't stay. Some lacing stayed on the sides of the glass and top of the beer while cold/cool, then as it warmed it subsided. This wasn't the most attractive beer.
Flavor: Flavor is carbon copy of the aroma, some grass, some caramel, some oxidation. Crystal malts are prevalent.
Mouthfeel: Creamy, silky, syrupy mouthfeel with enough bitterness to balance. I really did like the mouthfeel of this beer. Alcohol not noticeable.
Overall: Non-offensive, however its nothing great. Iron Hill does an excellent job, and this is a drinkable beer, but not one of their best. Very one dimensional. Try the Porter, its to die for.
