COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Uber Oktoberfest. Strong version of the famous fall lager brewed with pumpkin. Punktoberfest is amber in color and malty on the pallet with strong notes of vanilla and cinnamon. The subtle use of seasonal spices accentuates the spicy noble hop aroma. Ein Pumpkin Prosit!

Draft at GPBF. Pours a slightly hazy medium amber with a loose tan head. Big sharp nose, cinnamon is way out front and almost sneeze-inducing (well, not literally, but, man, it’s super sharp). Creamy medium body with lively carb. Belligerently spicy mid-palate, like a strong pot of tea you forgot about and come back later to find out it’s way over-saturated.

On tap at the 2009 Great Pumpkin Festival, Cambridge Brewing Company, Cambridge MA on 31 October 2009. I’m not a big fan of pumpkin ales and this didn’t do anything to change my mind. Sure there have been beers billed as Pumpkin Ales that I have enjoyed but they have generally been beers with plenty of their own character accompanied by a subtle "pumpkin" presence. This one had a quite strong spice presence - particularly vanilla - overlaying a sweet and rather thin base. I found the overall effect to be rather sickly, without being overtly offensive. Hazy amber colour. Lots of cookie dough in the aroma. I see that others have rated it highly bit tastes vary and I guess this was just not my scene.

Draft @ Iron Hill WC... amber color with a pumpkin/cinnamon aroma... light pumpkin flavor balanced with spices and vanilla... notes of hops and a nutmeg aftertaste... one of my favorites at the Gathering of the Gourds

Amber with a small, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of toasted malts, pumpkin, spices, nuts, grass, brown sugar, and caramel malt. Taste of nuts, caramel malts, earthy yeast, toasted dough, and light spices, with a bit of pumpkin meat as well.

Tap at IH WC during Gathering of the Gourds 2009. Pours a mostly translucent amber with a medium creamy off white head that left lacing. Aroma of pumpkin spice cookies. Vanilla, cinnamon and a nice malty oktoberfest profile. Flavor of the same. This was the top beer of GotG 2009 in my opinion.
