2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
On tap at Phoenixville brewpub. Dark amber with off white head. Smoke and wood pretty much covered up everything except a caramel malt base. Moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Smooth, medium bodied. Not my cup of tea.

Aroma: wow, bold smoky phenolic notes. Slight grassy , husky backing under bold beech wood smoke.8-

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL c&c thanks to yourefragile! Pours low haze, bright orange to golden. Weaker white foam. Nose is intense smoked ham, some odd sharper orange mint and peppermint. Taste is orange mint, some sharper spice, oil, almost like an older barleywine overall but only 3.8%. Very interesting little beer. Not sure how old this bottle is. Thanks Moll!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Very nice smoked beer that I sampled on draft at Phoenixville. The beer poured a dark brown color with a light tan head that left some sticky lacing around the glass. The aroma was like sticking your nose in a bottle of liquid smoke. There was plenty of smoke in the flavors as well, but it wasn’t as overpowering as some others in this style. This beer was very well balanced with a good caramel malt backbone and some dry and woody hops.

Pours a hazy straw yellow color with a soapy white head that vanishes quickly. Aroma of lemon and smoke. Citrusy flavor with a subtle smoke ending. Easy drinker for this style.
