750mL bottle. Opaque black with a thin film of brown head. Earthy roast malt aroma, with dark chocolate and some alcohol. Tinges of dark alefruit up front, squelched by a heavy toasty, roasty malt character with coffee. Bittersweet finish with some leafy and slightly citric hop flavors. Mouthfeel is heavy, very smooth, minor alcohol notes.

Black pour medium tan head. Aroma is chocolate and roasty. Flavor is dark chocolate, bittersweet chocolate and caramel, a touch of roastiness coffee. Fresh leafy hops with a citrus touch. Silky smooth mouthfeel, creamy as all hell being probably the smoothest stout I’ve ever had. Residual caramel sweetness and bitterness linger. This is a killer brew.

KSBF07. To better rate i need a full glass of this one. but best i have had of Iron hill. Motor oil black with smalle tan head. Aroma was of roasted chocolate and hops. Flavor was a good blend of smoke roast chocolate and a hop finish to it.

Thanks to Crizay for sharing. This beer pours a pitch black with a tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate and roasted malt. Nice, full and creamy! This brew has great body. Taste is of chocolate and roasty malts with a trace of alcohol. I think this beer would get better with some time sitting, but it is pretty good now.

Black colour with a tan head. Light roasted and coffee bitter aroma, balanced with a light chocolate sweetness. Roasted malty, coffee bitter and chocolate sweet flavor with a light hoppy finish.

Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, coffee, and fruit. The aroma is nice, but not as big and bold as I expect to find in an Imperial Stout. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a moderate beige head. The flavor starts with moderate chocolate, light roasted malt, and faint caramel. The finish has notes of light coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and faint vanilla. As it warms, the coffee increases. It’s full bodied with lively carbonation.

May 2005 - I wasn’t as thrilled with this as the other few reviews. Poured dark, dark brown (just about black) with a small head that dissipated quickly and some lacing. Maybe it was my allergies, but I didn’t smell much or taste the subleties listed in other reviews. Taste was dark roasted malt and a strong alcohol taste that wasn’t all that well masked. Bitter/sour...I dunno, I just wasn’t crazy about it...worth a try once, but probably won’t go back to it again. Update Jan. 2009 - Roasty and silky smooth with notes of chocolate. Not wow’ing or overly complex, but still pretty good.
