Sampled at the RBSG ’06. Thanks to Whaleman for bringing this one to share. Black pour with a big creamy head of tan. Complex malt aroma with lots of chocolate and coffee that repeat in the flavor. Full bodied and smooth.

Rating from HWOH, although we also had some at BCTC. Pours a very dark black, with nice coating on the sides and a decent beige lasting head. Aroma is of fruity esters- plum, raisin,- along with a ton of deep dark roasted barley, some nice coffee hints and lots of chocolate. Some decent herbal hopiness but not nearly enough to overpower the big malt profile which I like. Flavor is thick and heavy with roast, chcocolate, toffee, fruit, rum, molasses, burnt malts, and a touch of dry smokey tobacco in the end along with a smooth bitterness. Very ncie mouthfeel and has a sharp roasted aftertaste which is really nice in this beer. Awesome impy stout.

Bottle at RBSG 2006. Black body, but did expect anything different? Nose is roasted, coffee-ish and has some dark chocolate notes. Taste is predominantly chocolate and coffee with some burnt oatmeal. Body is medium with a moderate carboantion feel. Finishes with roasty malts, chocolate and coffee-laden bitterness.

Bottle, 2006 RBSG, provided by whaleman (Thanks Dave!). Black pour with a little mahogany around the edges. Small thin ring of brown head. Very roasty aroma with a burnt character, notes of coffee, dark chocolate, and minimal alcohol. Great flavor, all of the roast and patent malt you want from an Imperial Stout, but not the alcohol burn. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation and an oily texture. Very well done. A nice Imperial Stout that comes in on the lighter end of the spectrum, making it very drinkabe.

22 ounce bottle shared by EyeDrinkAle at Belgium Comes to Cooperstown 2006. Thanks! 3 ounce sample. Woodsy/oaky, chocolate, slightly sweet aroma. There is a mild hint of booziness and more milkiness as well. Opaque, jet-black, oily, inky body with a tan head and nice lacing. Now this is what an Imperial Stout should look like! Vinous, sweet, mildly astringent start, which turns more chocolatey with a bit of booze and roastiness late. Nice and flavorful.

RBSG 06 - sweet lord, there’s been a lot of imperial stouts this evening... Roasted coffee dominates the nose. Medium concentration, with coffee and roasted barley showing upfront. Medium finish.
