This beer rocks!... Pitch black ale with a small, creamy, khaki head. Decent retention. The aroma is a rich blend of chocolate, deeply roasted nuts and charcoal malt with a woodsy undertone. Full-bodied with a velvety mouthfeel and nearly expired carbonation. Lightly sweet chocolate, coffee and ethanol. Creamy-smooth, chocolaty finish. Kudos to Beerlando for sharing this world class brew! pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 14, 2008 black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma has plenty of chocolate and molasses, some carmel. Heavy roasted malt flavor, more chocolate, caramel, paper bag, cream, nuts. Finishes lightly oxidized with low carbonation. Would have been great if I drank it a bit sooner I think... | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 21, 2008 Courtesy beerlando. Black pour with a dark mahogany color at the edges. A small, tan head leaves spotty lacing left behind. The aroma is full of dark chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, caramel, with some tart, dark fruit in there as well. The flavor shows more dark chocolate, fudge, raisins, with a little bit of hops in the background. Medium-full bodiedwith light carbonation and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that leads to a bitter chocolate finish. This is a really nice RIS with a lot of great chocolate flavor and a pleasure to drink. bubbleflubber (892), Collinsville, Virginia, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Pours almost opaque black, the deepest ruby available, with a frothy mocha head that leaves a thin cap with trace soapy lace. Some vinous and roasted chocolate fills the bouquet well. A very, very nice complex sweet and roasted chocolate flavor predominates the pull. The finish continues the roast, with low bitters and a hint of alcoholic astringency. Full-bodied, the mouthfeel contains soft carbonation levels, and really adds to the overall ambiance of the brew. Sweet, rich (but not chewy) and roasted, a wonderfully malted beer that I’m very happy to have sampled. Beershine (2709), Where Climate Suits My Clothes, Vietnam
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 20, 2008 Hazy, reddish-hued black-brown. Hot, astringent nose. Thin a slick, smooth texture with low carbonation. Finishes nicely with a rumcake feel. Nuanced, nice, smooth, and accessible. Oakes (8080), gone rambling, Vietnam
