Cocoa in the aroma, a bit of alcohol venting. Near black color, opaque, large tan-colored head. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee; deep, rich maltiness, tobacco, fine alcohol syrup in the finish with a good dose of resin/pine hops and moderate bitterness. Medium full, smooth and slick texture. Very good hoppy Imperial Stout. Wish there was more to the aroma though.

Bottle split at Bruces pad - for the last time, big thanks to Padraig, 27/03/15. Light black with a decent tan covering. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, spice, earthy, dark toffee. Taste comprises roast malt, chocolate, hint of liquorice, toffee, charr, dark fruits. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent enough imperial stout, not overly complex but an approachable easy drinking number.

Scopey (8329) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 27, 2015
Bottle thanks to Manny G. It pours dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is rich, roasty, coffee, cocoa, candied citrus peel and earth. The taste is rich roast, earth, toasty, charred wood, cocoa, vanilla, varnish, booze and mild acidity with a dry, rich roasty finish. Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Perhaps too dry. Very dry. Ashy. OK.

Bottle shared in London - big thanks to Padraig. Pours black with a dense, creamy beige head. The nose has a lot of burnt marshmallows, cocoa, earth. Medium sweet flavor with mild roast, some dark fruits, burnt earth, charred grains, raisins. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish with lots of char character, ash, baking cocoa, burnt marshmallow, earth, grains. Pretty well balanced overall.

orangesol (952) - Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 4, 2014
Served on-tap at Iron Hill - Lancaster during their recent X-Mas in July event.

A - Pours jet black; with hints of brown around the edges; with a small half finger tall tan head leaving streaky lacing down the glass.

S - Smells of coffee, bakers chocolate, dark roasted malt, licorice, light smoke, and sweet dark fruits. It is complex yet it smells like any other RIS would.

T - Starts off with plenty of rich coffee quickly giving way to a mix of sweet bakers chocolate, dark roasted malt, light smoke, and some sweet dark fruits. It has lots of smokey roast yet it remains quite drinkable. The finish has plenty of dark roast, mixing with some chocolaty sweetness, to linger on the pallet long after the finish.

M - Heavy body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Rich, roasty, feel with plenty of it lingering through the finish.

O - Very nice. I see why this has won all those GAFB medals over the years. It has lots of things going on inside it, yet it remains drinkable and easy to enjoy. I am glad they snuck this keg on at the last minute.

3 year old bottle from my cellar shared at Damico’s. Pours black with some tan head. Aroma is not strong, but still pleasant with notes of black malt, coffee and chocolate. First sip is glorious with huge mocha and roasted notes. Finish is sweeter than expected with hints of vanilla. Great stuff
