COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This American barleywine has a dominant malty sweetness that is balanced by a huge presence of American hops. The hops give this beer a citrus-like hop flavor. Further dry-hopped for added hop aroma.

Bottle shared at the UFC 100 gathering, sorry forgot who broght this one my bad. Poured a murky brwon with a small whiteish head but hey it’s a BW so what more do you really expect? Aroma was on the bland side with some notes of chocolate, orange citrusy hops and rye bread. Flavor was a bit stronger on the chocolate malts complimented nicely by the orange citrusy hops. Body was nicely done with a medium mouthfeel some soft to average carbonation and a creamy finish. Very drinkable but the aroma was sort of a let down, perhaps to cold and needed to warm up or perhaps to late at night and I needed to sober up.

Big thanks to GMCC2181 for hooking me up with this 2004 vintage that pours hazy copper with thin tan head. The aroma is thick and yum with dark fruity richness of aged and blended dates, raisins, figs and prunes all rolling into molasses and smooth rich sweet malts. A big draw brings up some mild booze. The taste is smooth blended rich flavored yum. I get sweet malts, sugar stewed cherries and raisins, dates and plums to start. It then moves into notes of molasses mixing with a mild tingle of carbonation enhanced booze that thins things out a bit into the finish. It also becomes a touch dryer too as a note of mild roastiness comes to the surface.

750ml via trade i think gmc sent this, thanks to whomever. Pours rich copper with a 2 finger copper head. Nose is quite sweet and hoppy and interesting. Taste is sweet, some what hoppy and all in all a pretty tasty barleywine.

750mL shared by theisti. Pour is dark, hazy, reddish copper, cannot see through it. It has a small bit strong head, lightly sticky. Aroma is super strong, syrupy, alcoholic malts with a bit of an stringent hoppiness. Taste follows suit with a bit less of the astringency. There is the alcohol but it evaporates without leaving an alcoholic aftertaste. Its a strong barleywine like the other many strong barleywine, I don;t know what better way to describe it, this style of BW was once super cool and interesting but has become boring (I can get many similar for a much better price). Has a very thick and syrupy mouthfeel.

750 ml bottle shared by Miketd at CPLYFO 09. Pours a hazy amber with a nice lasting white head. Aroma is spicy and citrusy hops with a nice fruity ester hint- oak is moderate- some vanilla and sweet malts. Big fruity esters and sweetness in the flavor almost cover up the oak and vanilla- tons of citrus and orange- zesty hops, some pine and grass. Earthy leathery and oaky dry finish with a slight lingering brown sugar and toffee note.

Bottle… C&P’sLYFO Throwdown… Cloudy brown ale with a small, fizzy, khaki head. The aroma is a rich, decadent swirl of buttery caramel. Full-bodied and velvety with tingly carbonation. The flavor is all about caramel as well - sweet, but not cloyingly so - rich and robust, but not overbearing. Caramely, bittersweet finish. 750 ml bottle from eaglefan538. Pour is ruby orange brown with a one inch off white head. Aroma of caramelly sweet malt, toasty, and some citrus hoppiness behind that. Nice, full nose. Really nice balance and melding of the hops and malts. Taste is caramelly, brown sugar, and the citrus. Some grainy mineral bright fruit sweetness behind that. Taste is nice, but not as full as the nose would suggest. Palate is medium full, mouth coating. Nice one, thanks for this one Brian.

Bottle from the Otown throwdown. Miketd brought this rare bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a small head. Aroma full of toffee, caramel, yeast, vanilla, and oak. Flavor is sweet, caramel, vanilla and balanced by some nice hops on the finish. Great beer. Loved it.

Courtesy mketd. Pours a dark brown, with red hues and small off tan head. Smells of big bold dark caramel malts, bready yeast, and some sweter fruits and vanilla. The flavor was of typical barley wine style. Mild alcohol burn ,wit htraces of sweet fruits, vanilla oak, and dark malts all together. this was very solid, but seemed sort of standard to me. No real big flaws, just nothing to set itself apart in my book. Still very good and drinkable.
