axilla (941), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 4, 2006 Poured a deep, dark brown color body with a smal white/offwhite head. Aroma was mild carmel and sweet toasted malts. Flavor was sweet smoked peet with some mild roast and a little carmel. Almost like a scotch lager. BillKismet (1361), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 28, 2006 Deep chestnut brown with a lovely chocolate, caramel malty aroma. Light roasty, sweet candi chocolate flavor with some interesting depp roast muskiness. TomDecapolis (2346), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 20, 2006 Tap @ Media. Pours a dark brown with red coming through when held to the light. Smaller off white head that eventually went away to nothing. Aroma of sweet malts, light smoke and toasty malts. Flavor was sweet and roasty, some smoke, malty, grainy, molasses and some bitter chocolate. DocLock (4047), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 17, 2006 Draft, followed up by a growler which I am now drinking. This one poured deep black with dark brown edges and a tan head. The aroma was intense, with big roasty malt and dark chocolate syrup. The palate is dense and complex, and the flavor is roasty malty, with some vinous fruit notes, backed up by a mid and end palate of dark choclate, hazelnuts, and slight anise. Very complex, and a marvelous companion to a maduro cigar. As the self-proclaimed king of Scwarzbiers on this site, I proclaim this one pathetically underrated. whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 13, 2006 Draught at Media. Dark violet hue with a grey-toned head. Aroma of espresso beans, chocolate, and roast. Medium sweet with light bitter roast. Flavor suggests well-roasted marshmallows. Medium body with some smooth slickness. A decent Schwarzbier.
