Tap at the Maple Shade location. Beautiful deep mahogany, nose steeped in luscious caramel/toffee and Munich-type melanoidins/Maillards. Dry caramel-heavy flavor with a light floral undertone, a little rubbery-astringent at the margin but clean and flavor-packed for its slightness. Medium-full body.

Nitro at the Maple Shade location. Mahogany with a two finger tan head. Very very smooth feel to it. Aroma of malt, nuts, caramel, maybe a bit of coffee. Taste is quite subtle. Not at all sweet. Nicely balanced with a good bit of bitterness. Aftertaste is long lasting.

Lightly hazy brown color with a small, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malts, nuts, roast, vanilla, and toast. Taste of nuts, caramel malts, toffee, toasted dough, and a semi-sweet finish.

Nitro draft at Maple Shade. Classic nitro pour, velvety smooth white head over a crisp deep amber body. Big malty aroma with earth notes. The flavor was great with lots of earth, a slight hint of nut and some sweetness. Can’t believe this one isn’t even 4%, so much flavor, so much aroma, wow phenomenal.

Pours a clear copper color with no head. Small aroma of toasted malts, grain, and nuts. Flavor of toasted malts, nuts, and some molasses. Smooth, but seems watered down and a bit weak.

Consumed while enjoying (as a non-participant) the Iron Hill Twilight Criterium cycling race / party. Pour was full brown color, off-white almost tannish colored head, served on nitro. The aroma was peaty malts and some chocolate. The flavor followed, more than a touch of the peaty smoke that the description reads, but not over the top either. Darned smooth mouthfeel, sweet but appropriately so, balanced by a light roast or hop bitterness too. A style that now bores me, but a good shot at it by IH.

Nitro, 1st rating of this brew. Pours deep brown with a creamy tan head. Nose is nice with peaty malts. Taste is sweet, malty, rich and quite smooth.
