3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Newark, DE. Color is a deep brown, with little head. Aroma is mostly caramel malt and some hoppiness. Flavor is nice, sweet malts and a nice smokiness in the background, finishing dry and only a tad bitter. Tasty but nothing great.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
GABF 2004. Eh. Not that great. Overall, everything was very weak and watered down. I could sense a vague hint of maltiness on the nose, and the flavor was definitely malty and a little tangy, with a slight bitter finish, but it all seemed like just an echo of a beer. In the end, this was was just "wee."

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Had this around Thanksgiving at West Chester. Slightly turbid dark brown/copper colored, with aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, scotch, and some rauchiness. Tastes the same, with some fruit in addition to the caramel, toffee, scotch, and slight finishing cabernet. Amazing complexity and balance. Fantastic.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 6, 2005 GABF ’03. The highest rating I gave to a Scotch Ale at the ’fest (shows what I know, huh?). Anyway, cloudy amber color with malty bitter warm finish.
