pours deep brown/black with a medium tan head...heavy lacing. aroma has light vanilla beneath spices, spruce and mild berry notes. flavor follows suit...very nice job of balancing the spices here and not going overboard. not my favorite style but this is a nice example.

Tap in Voorhees. Served in a glassed half-frosted at the rim with sugar and cinnamon. Deep mahogany appearance with red/amber highlights underneath. Traditional Christmas spices in the mouth -- cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger? Cherry. Nose contaminated by the glass frosting, but it’s not intrusive once I get to the oral phase. Very sweet, low bitterness, mild chocolate, mild vanilla, light licorice or anise. Medium body. Pleasant, and I appreciate the bold fruitiness.

Sample draft at newark brewpub..served with a cinnamon sugar rimmed glass..negative expectations going into this one but wanted to try anyway..cant say very much positive about this.the most memorable thing about this is the odd rimming of the glass, and not in a good way..this smells and tastes like a summer sipper to me..after having some more favorful and better winter warmers recently..this offering just doesnt cut it..

Draught at Phoenixville BrewPub: Aroma of spices, malt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Poured dark brown/very deep orange in color with a small, creamy, dense, tan head that greatly diminished but lasted around the edges. Hazy. Slightly sparkling. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of malt, spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, slight chocolate, faint molasses, slight cola, and some roasting. Medium body. Lightly dry, lightly chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Malt, spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, slight chocolate finish is dry.

On draft at the Phoenixville restaurant. The beer pours a dark brown color with a sizable beige head. The head leaves a nice amount of lacing around the sides of the glass. The nose is full of spices, like nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice, along with some earthy and bready notes. The body is very smooth and easily drinkable. The flavors are extremely well-balanced and delicious, with seasonal spiced flavors. Iron Hill’s Winter Warmer is definitely one of the best winter seasonals I’ve tasted in a long time, maybe even ever! Very delicious!

On tap at Phoenixville. Tastes like Jaegermeister. Pours brown with tan head. Cinnamon, cloves, brown sugar, ginger. Moderately sweet, low bitterness. Full, creamy bodied. Decent winter beer, but not my cup of tea.

On draft at the Newark location. Rim only half coated w cinnamon/sugar as requested - nice! Pour is deep dark brown with definite choco colored head, decent initial size, little lacing left behind. Aroma of robust spices, toasted bananas, faint chocolate. Flavor all that followed with nuts, tons of brown sugar, blended toasty/roasty notes, faint molasses. Mouthfeel smooth and a tad silky. About as stellar as a spiced, brown, or non dIPA holiday beer could be! Nice jobl Justin!

On tap at IH Newark. Pours a cloudy brown with a thick light tan head. Aroma of wintery spices (clove, cinnamon, pumpkin, nutmeg) and anise star. Flavor of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, plus the above spices. This is not your average spiced beer- the spices are well melded and more than just cinnamon and nutmeg. Also the base beer is solid. The cinnamon rim augments, but does not obscure. Great winter warmer! 8/4/9/4/16 (4.1/5)
