If you like mochas and stouts this is one of the best combinations of those two that I’ve had. Very strong but smooth coffee flavor with just a hint of chocolate.

A very nice coffee ale. Not as much overwhelmingly coffee as expected. Pours a vet nice red black with a thick tan head. Smells of espresso and cinnamon. Taste is super creamy, with fluffy chocolate, espresso and ice cream. Coffee is well balanced. Slight vanilla in the finish. Had in the bottle.

Draft pour at Frankies pizza. Pours a dark reddish brown with a thin cola head. Strong coffee beans aroma. Mostly coffee bean flavor, unbalanced, with just a little bit of chocolate. Finishes pure espresso. Interesting beer. Not quite what I expected. A little more balanced would be nice, but good flavor overall. Not bad.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours very dark brown color with a small head of tan colored foam. The head has a lighter level of retention, fading to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is massive of a coffee smell with this smell taking command over all the others. With the huge coffee smell, there are some lighter aromas roasted malt as well as touches of some toffee and caramel and a hint of cocoa. Taste – The taste begins with a roasted malt and lighter coffee flavor with the coffee growing stronger as the taste moves onto the end. Right upfront there are also some sweeter flavors of caramel and toffee as well as a little bit of chocolate. The chocolate and sweeter toffee fade as the taste moves forward with a little more bitter roast coming to the tongue along with the coffee increasing. With a little bit of a woody flavor coming at the very end of the taste, one is left with a moderately dry and roasty coffee flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side for a brew of 7 % abv. with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the roasted and coffee flavors of the brew a thicker body would have been slightly better accentuating the roasty and darker flavors, which are the base flavors of the brew, much more nicely. Overall – An alright coffee like porter/stout but nothing out of the world. I actually prefer the Irish Death scotch ale (which this is based on I think) over this brew as I think it is more balanced overall and a better representation of the style

Pours near headless atop a brown body. Nose of diacetyl and nail polish. Odd slightly sour and volatile. Some infection? Bizarre.

A porter looking and feeling brew rather than a stout, though the description of the base "malt flavor laced with caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, and a touch of sweetness" is spot on. I liked the coffee and cocoa additions as well, but it just iddn’t come together well enough to be elite

Big bold brown pour, thick brown head. Oh yeah this one is nice. Loads of coffee and chocolate. Fudge, brownie batter, sweet and rich. A lot crammed in for under 8%

Draught in a flight at the brewpub. Sweet Jesus this was fun... pours a clear dark brown color. Nose was roasty with LOTS of coffee coming off it, and a slight amount of chocolate. Taste had huge amounts of coffee in there, with a slightly sweet chocolate finish. Very pleasant drink. Me gusta.

Coffee, chocolate, roast and fruit in the aroma. Pours a dark brown/ruby with a tan head and moderate lacing. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Caramel, coffee and fruit, tasty stuff

Appearance: dark cola brown with one finger of creamy, thick, medium tan head and minimal lacing. Aroma: bittersweet dark chocolate, roast coffee beans, soy sauce, light earthy hops. Taste: sweet and roasty up front, with chocolate and café au lait and some vanilla pudding; as it warms, slightly savory notes of soy sauce and salted caramel come out. Finish: lingering bittersweet chocolate and turkish coffee, with a whisper of herbal hops providing a slight dryness. Notes: Better than the traditional version. Quite good.

On tap at brewery. Red hues on brown ale with a excellent clarity and a still appearance. Smells of coffee and cocoa. I like the nose. Flavor is cocoa and coffee and vanilla with a good malty backbone.medium on full bodied with moderate carb. Semi dry finish. Nice beer. Serving type: on-tap 03-18-2012
