3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On my way home from Hangar on the wharf, I picked up a howler of this from Breeze In, Juneau, AK.
I poured this into a pint glass.
The appearance is an extremely dark brown close to black color with a decent amount of an off white foamy lacing trying to grace the sides of the glass but slide for the most part.
The smell tried to have the milky sweet chocolates and roasty coffee to somewhat vanilla-ness up front, but for the most part, there’s a ton of dark fruits in the front as well. I don’t mind it, but it just does seem a little weird for the "milk/sweet stout" style. Anyways, I shall proceed.
The taste was pretty much the same even as it warmed. There is a quick sweet chocolate to dark fruit aftertaste with a long dry and somewhat butery finish.
On the palate, it sits a moderately light to medium and has a very extreme sessionable quality to it. Amazingly enough, I’m trying to figure out how sessionable a "milk/sweet stout" can be, well, Iron Horse did it. The carbonation has got to be one of the smoothest of any "milk/sweet stouts" I’ve ever had, weird, but its almost as if its too smooth.
Overall, this beer is so smooth it almost makes one think is this really a "milk/sweet stout?" As I know it did that for me. I’d have this again and would love to have it with some lemon meringue pie.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Kokopelli, Port Angeles
Dark brown color with red shades, and creamy beige head. The body is a bit lighter than expected, the mouthfeel is smooth; good mix of roasted malts and chocolate flavor; correct bitterness.
Akin to some Scotch Ale. Pleasant.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. This black hued beer has a limited aroma but the taste is simple and malty. Roast coffee and chocolate and toast intermingle. Tastes much lighter than the ABV suggests.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
From 22oz bottle to shaker. Pour is a nice dark copper, light head at first but then creamed up and fizzed to the top like a Guinness. Nose is huge malt, slight coffee, ash, smoke. Taste is medium-heavy body that is mostly sour. Finishes with an alcahol bite. Nice beer to have on St. Patty’s Day.

22 oz bottle poured black with lots of foam. Smells sweet. Taste is toasty bread, coffee and hints of molasses. NO bitterness, very smooth. Carbonation goes fast. Just okay.

One of my favorites...great beer out of Washington state. This brewery also has several other great beers worth trying.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Molasses on the nose. Pours dark, minimal head. Medium to light in body, slick texture, sweet malt and perhaps licorice. Pleasant on the palate. A (perhaps) salty finish. Meets expectations and defies categorization. From the bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle. Darkest brown, large tan head that stays the course. Aroma is earth, chocolate brownies, faint coffee. Smooth, dark malty taste with the elements of the aroma figuring. Solid stuff all through but nothing that really stands out. Also I’d say that it doesn’t fit in with any particular style.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap. Black with tan white head. Smells sweet. Taste is malty sweet stout. Bitterness is there, but maltiness is powerful for a stout.
