SuzyGreenberg (781), Seattle, Washington, USA May 13, 2008 22 oz. bottle - pours thin and dark brown and cream head fades to the edges; aromas are earthy, some chocolate and candy sugar; texture is creamy and drinks sweet; slight roast to it but needs more body as it is quite thin; disappointing as a stout, but pretty decent as a dark ale i think; drinks smooth with dry finish; sweetness lingers
cstuartj (240), Washington, USA Jun 9, 2008 Bottle. Pours a nice black with a shade of burnt red. not much head, no lacing. nose is rather nice, roasted malts, sweet over ripe dark fruits, a bit of pine. Attack is okay, a bit thin and overly sweet. finish is pretty bad. the beer gets worse with each additional sip. bitbucket (1455), Kirkland, Washington, USA Jun 6, 2008 Bomber. Pours clear cola brown with a fading tan head. Aroma of roasted nuts, toffee, fruit, chocolate with just a hint of pine sprinkled over it. Creamy, medium body with carbonation on the light side. Sweet taste of molasses, nuts, and a dash of chocolate leading to a semi-dry finish. I wasn’t expecting a coffee bomb from a sweet stout, but this is so un-roasty it seems more like a high-alcohol porter than anything else I can think of. I’m trying to think of why I might be motivated to buy a second bottle of this, but I’m just not coming up with a good reason. after4ever (1629), Brier, Washington, USA May 27, 2008 22. Pours black with slightest toasty highlights. Thick, creamy tan head that disappears almost instantly, leaving no head or lace. Slightly sour, slightly sweaty nose...QA issue? Maybe. Cola and roast there as well. Creamy medium body. Tons of roasty cola flavor and that’s about it. Sticky, slightly sweet finish. Just ok. Not sure how much better it might be if they clean up the diacetyl and apparent infection/ester issues. presario (2382), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 24, 2008 Bottle purchased because of great name. Black. Thin layer of creamy off-white head. Thick aroma. Creamy. Touch of molasses. Thick tasty spicy dark ale. Tasty molasses and peat.
