3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz Bottle. The pour was a murky dark brown with a small (less than 1 finger) light brown fizzy head that diminished in a matter of seconds, down to just a small collar with fair light lacing.
The aroma was somewhat mild with a roasted chocolate malt and a light doughy yeast with notes of dark fruit (raisins and dates), coffee, cola, molasses and a mild alcohol tinge.
The taste was a bold malty sweet with a good strong dark fruit presence and a hint of molasses and maybe chocolate from the beginning, and then took on a nice bold roastiness with a touch of coffee and a nice mellow alcohol ending. The flavor lasted an average time after the swallow, and what was left behind is still somewhat of a tasty mystery to me.
Mouthfeel was just about medium in body with a thin dry texture and a fizzy carbonation.
Overall the brewer is correct, I just can not put this one into any one style category. All I know is it is damn tasty and I like it...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: brown hue with minimal head nor lace. Not an Irish Stout, not by a long shot but more akin to a Schwartzbier IMO... sweet stout? I guess that will be okay. (see what is in the description above) Heavy bready and caramelized malts with a fair amount of roast. Almost no bitterness outside some clean noble character. Faint dark fruit esters. Slick and soft mouthfeel... okay for what it is

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle) Nice rich coffee + chocolate flavor in this one. It’s not anything spectacular but it’s a pretty decent stout.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Poured from a fresh growler into a tumbler on 08.23.14.
A: Chocolate malt and earthy like root beer. Sweet smelling.
A: 3 finger head. Dark brown nearly opaque body with a see through bottom.
T: Licorice, earthy sweetness, and caramel dominate. It has a root-like back end.
P: Watery, but carbonated enough.
O: This seems more like a Scotch ale, but it’s hard to define. It’s very, very sweet, enough that I can’t drink more than 2 glasses of it before it wears on me.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle: poured mahogany with light to no head with alot of floaters. Aroma a nice creamy chocalte in the nose followed by a little heat from the alcohol. Taste had chocolate light body for a sweet stout and light biscuit followed by alcohol.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap, Famous Dave’s, Kalispell, Montana. Dark brown, sweet aroma. Sweet, caramel flavour, some sugar, but just too sweet for me.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark brown color with a little light coming through. Aroma is sweet caramel malt, more sweet almost candy smell. Taste is lots of caramel sweetness, sugar and is slightly cloying, but not overly. I was really interested to try this because Rate Beer calls this a sweet stout. BA calls it a strong ale. I can see both sides on this, but whatever you call it, it’s good.

4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22oz bottle. Appearance: pours with a lot of sediment. Aroma: creamy, malty, and roasty, with chocolate, vanilla, and toffee. Taste/Palate: feels a bit thin; starts creamy and sweet, and finishes sweet and crisp. This is a pretty fantastic beer, especially from a sweetness perspective, but I would prefer it to be a bit thicker and maybe boozier. That being said, this beer hides its alcohol content extremely well.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a pitch black color with a one finger head of tan colored foam. The head has a decent level of retention, fading over time to leave a good level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of a roasted malt smell along with some lighter sweet vanilla smells and a bit of a toast smell. Along with these are some light caramel and coffee aromas.
Taste- The taste begins a with a roasted malt taste with a good deal of vanilla and some caramel. As the taste advances the roast dwindles some all while the sweeter flavors of vanilla and caramel gain intensity. Other light hints of chocolate and coffee come to the tongue at the very end along with just a bit of a graininess, to combine with the rest of the flavors to leave a rather semi-sweet and smooth roasted flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the slightly thicker side with a carbonation level that is rather average to slightly below average. For the darker and sweeter flavors of the brew it is rather appropriate and makes of a rather nice drinker.
Overall – A fairly nice stout overall with a decent sweetness but yet balanced by a good deal of roastednesss. Overall rather nice.
