On tap at Iron Springs brewpub during SF Beer Week, what a week! It pours a nice clear gold with lasting off white head. The modest aroma offers up spicy hop notes that blend nicely into spicy rye like notes. The taste has some sugary sweet malts running into a thicket of spicy hops and a bit of maybe pine hops before rye like spiciness joins in and takes this into the finish. This is a nice full flavored spicy, like near cedar or oak spiciness, brew.

Really tastes like a lighter version of their Crippler but with a light toasted rye flavor.

On tap at the brewpub. Clear golden orange with a small off-white head, fair retention. Spicy rye, clover honey, and lightly floral nose. Flavor has a slightly metallic lagerlike note, but otherwise the same. Finished semi-dry, bitterness at a 3. Moderate prickly carbonation with a light body. Not bad.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Aquilo (488) - Berkeley, California, USA - FEB 6, 2013
Color is a rich yellow with a small head. Aroma is dry grainy malt and bready yeast. Flavor is bitter sweet. In fact, the sweetness ruins it. Crisp finish. This is a decent beer, but nothing remarkable.

Tried this on tap at Beer Lands inside the Outside Lands Music Festival in San Francisco. Rye, bread, spice notes in the aroma. Well balanced malt flavor with a clean hop finish.
