Ironbridge gold is a smooth ale with a subtle hop character. Originally brewed for the 2008 Brass Band Festival using Maris Otter malted barley and new Worcestershire hedgerow hops, Gold has quickly become one of our most popular beers.

As Wrekin Gold. Gravity cask at the Walsall Camra, beer festival 2015. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is dry yeast, citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a watery malt, light hop bitter palate. Light bodied with soft carbonation.

Cask in the Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury. Very pale with a thin white head. A little thin on flavour, but there are some pineapple and grapefruit flavours in there. Good for a pale ale.

Cask at GBBF 2013. Light golden bitter. Pleasantly hoppy, with a nice bitter finish. Actually not sure I’m rating the same beer here - it was definitely called Ironbridge Gold and abv is the same, but the blurb on the tap said it was brewed with Centennial. That’s what I drank but seems very different from other reviews here.

Cask pour. Pours clear golden yellow with a small white head that dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is very faint, perhaps a touch of honey. Flavor is grass, honey, surprisingly bitter, but without a lot of hop flavors to add to the mix. Medium body. Offputting, actually.

Had this at the Freewheel Brewing Co. in Redwood City (brewed on site). Nice clear golden colour with small head. Very light fizz. Nice British beer. (K)

Slightly hazed golden colored beer with a white head. Floral hops, mild grass, and some nice toasted bread. A hint of citrus peel, but a touch watery. The flavor is sweet and bready. Light toast qualities, some floral and grassy hops, light citrus peel, and some water.

500ml Brown bottle obtained from the brewery. Best before the end of Sept 2011, some 45 days away (rated Aug 2011). Poured into an Abbot Ale tankard: golden, light body, wispy head of white islands on top. Slight hoppy aroma, the taste more hoppy. A regular non-exciting feel to the brew to be honest. The hops give it a mini citrus flavour and I struggled to find any malt content during the tasting. An OK brew, not bitter enough to be a traditional English Bitter and the label does say it’s a ’continental style beer’ whatever that means. I know this brewery does better beers, I hope to review some of those one day.
