51/50 IPA is brewed to meet the standards of even the most judgemental hop snobs. Dry-hopping over several weeks allows us to create a pungent and dank aroma with a spicy and piney finish. Next time you want to stick your nose in a glass of hops, grab a 51/50 IPA. Why call it 51/50? Because we have to be crazy to put this amount of hops in a beer.

650 ml bomber from bev4ess. Pours a translucent brass color with a small white head that has minimal retention. The aroma is big and bold with lots of citrusy goodness (oranges in particular) and a touch of pine. The flavor, like the aroma, is a blast of bitter hops featuring oranges, grapefruit and pine. The malt base is almost invisible with just a touch of barley showing through, this makes for a very clean quaff. The palate is silky smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes long, dry and bitter. Overall: I found the bitterness of this just a bit harsh and over-the-top, otherwise a very decent IPA.

Draft 0.15l at The BeerTemple Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Waiting for cika Boban. 02.06.2016. Pour it slightly hazy orange color with big white head. Aroma orange zest, floral just a bit. Taste orange juice, little bit spoiled hoppy feel, not so fresh unfornately.

Bottle. Cloudy orange in colour with a gusher. Aromas are of hot house flowers and burned rubber. Tastes like wet compost and flowers. Bitter, light bodied, and very clearly infected. Too bad.

Can at The Bottle Shop, The Goods Shed, Canterbury West, Canterbury, Kent, Saturday 12th March 2016 Pours clear gold, perhaps just a mere hint of haze if I was being picky, with a white head atop. Soft in the mouth, lovely juicy, fruity flavours, good hoppiness throughout and nicely bittersweet, bit drying. A good persistent streaky citrus bite, like this, very moreish. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

April 20th, 2014 - The 51/50 is readily available, and heavily flavored, making this a great six-pack to bring with me to friends to chill and get savor long sips between bawdy jokes and stories. Hazy and amber, my glass produced a lovely arch of foam on one side, as if the ring of foam had been gently lifted from the surface and hitched up to the side. The aroma is hoppy with a slight dankness, but more pronounced is the pineapple note. This tropical citrus taste re-appears more boldly in the flavor, buoyed (but just barely) by a light body. The dankness of the hop profile appears in the mid-taste and the aftertaste after the pineapple tapers off, making this a slow drinker, even if the ABV doesn’t demand it.

650ml bottle. Clear, orangey, pale golden colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Piney hoppy aroma with notes of orange, orange zest, slightly sugary, pale malty background. Taste is slightly sugary pale and caramel malty, quite bitter, minimally piney and citrusy hoppy overtones, hints of orange and orange zest. Too much hop bitterness for to less hoppy flavour.
