51/50 IPA is brewed to meet the standards of even the most judgemental hop snobs. Dry-hopping over several weeks allows us to create a pungent and dank aroma with a spicy and piney finish. Next time you want to stick your nose in a glass of hops, grab a 51/50 IPA. Why call it 51/50? Because we have to be crazy to put this amount of hops in a beer.

650 ml bomber from bev4ess. Pours a translucent brass color with a small white head that has minimal retention. The aroma is big and bold with lots of citrusy goodness (oranges in particular) and a touch of pine. The flavor, like the aroma, is a blast of bitter hops featuring oranges, grapefruit and pine. The malt base is almost invisible with just a touch of barley showing through, this makes for a very clean quaff. The palate is silky smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes long, dry and bitter. Overall: I found the bitterness of this just a bit harsh and over-the-top, otherwise a very decent IPA.

canned; from Bier-Bienne - pours a pretty clear amber-orange beer with a little foam left; some flowery hoppiness followed by notes of oranges and citrus; a good malt backbone, subtle carbonation and very bitter; quite dry resiney and peachy hoppy finish

Keg at Bottle Shop, Bermondsey. It pours a clean golden color with a small white head. Aroma is piney grassy and skunky with notes of boiled vegetable and light fart. Taste is tangy citric and light grassy with good bitterness all around. Notes of pine cones, grass. Straw, grapefruit. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, ok

Keg at BD Soho, 30/09/16. Rich golden amber with a well appointed egg shell white head. Nose is caramel malt, bitter orange, biscuit, straw, toasted grains, grapefruit esters. Taste comprises orange pith, light perfume, caramel malt, toffee, toasted bread, orange rinds. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, moderate hop bitterness in the close. Ok IPA ... A little old skool but we’ll balanced.

Can from The Beerhive. Hazy pale golden body with a medium white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of hay and biscuit. Flavour of steel and grapefruit peel. Thin to medium body with a watery texture. Soft fizz. Dull and lacking in hoppy flavours.

Pours golden with a foamy head. The aroma is a dank pineapple/grapefruit aroma. Quite a spicy little number with just a hint of bitterness on the tongue right at the end.

Pours hazy golden amber with low white head. Aroma of resin, citrus, light caramel, almost DIPA like. Taste is fairly rich pine bitter with a mellow fruit sweetness to bakance it towards the finish. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.
