COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
51/50 IPA is brewed to meet the standards of even the most judgemental hop snobs. Dry-hopping over several weeks allows us to create a pungent and dank aroma with a spicy and piney finish. Next time you want to stick your nose in a glass of hops, grab a 51/50 IPA. Why call it 51/50? Because we have to be crazy to put this amount of hops in a beer.

650 ml bomber from bev4ess. Pours a translucent brass color with a small white head that has minimal retention. The aroma is big and bold with lots of citrusy goodness (oranges in particular) and a touch of pine. The flavor, like the aroma, is a blast of bitter hops featuring oranges, grapefruit and pine. The malt base is almost invisible with just a touch of barley showing through, this makes for a very clean quaff. The palate is silky smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes long, dry and bitter. Overall: I found the bitterness of this just a bit harsh and over-the-top, otherwise a very decent IPA.

From bomber to pint glass. Dank pine, dank pine and dank pine aroma dominates. Clear copper-orange with white head. Flavor is all pine and spice with slight biscuit malt. Overt bitterness. Overdone.

Tap at Backyard Bottle Shop. Pours clear copper with a medium, frothy white head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is dank, citrus and herbal hops, sweaty gym socks, biscuit malt, pear and peach esters. Flavor is moderate hops and bitterness, dank hops, pineapple notes, medium bitterness with light malt and a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

From a bottle. Pours murky amber with a fizzy white head. Tastes very dry, like musky toasted malt, old wood, and stale dry hops. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like nutty, musky malt, stale hops, woody, and leathery. Overall disappointing.

Bottle. Pours a murky amber with thick, creamy off-white head. Aroma is grapefruit, orange peel, cereal malts, floral and spicy hops, and other citrus esters. Flavor is medium floral and grassy hop bitterness forward with a dry, bready malt base, light citrus esters, and faint spice. Medium body and carbonation.

Bottle shared. Pours a murky amber with a layer of off white head. Aroma and taste of a lot of bitterness with a hint of malts on the back end. Not much else.

On tap at Urge. Clear yellow pour with a white head. Mild citrusy hop aromas. Nice citrus hop notes dominate with minerally grapefruit hop lowlights. Sturdy malt backbone. Good body and mouthfeel.

22 oz bomber...fair brew...typical IPA nothing special...hops were a little wet tasting...not in a good harvest character but more in a poor storage way. I have had plenty of worse brews...but plenty other better ones
