Double IPA

22oz bomber picked up at the brewery pours with a clear gold body that has copper hues and supports an off white head. The aroma pushes up a mix of mango, tangelo and floral hoppiness ringed thinly by some spicy onion like hops. This is an inviting aroma. The taste starts with a three headed hop attacked from tangelo and mango and spicy mildly dank onion like hoppiness as well as a thin rings of floral hops out at the edges of the flavor. It gets a little more sweet and juicy with citrus and mango to midway before those notes fade into the finish. Darn nice IIPA that is full in flavor yet somewhat tame and soft in sweet citrus juiciness.

On tap at Hollingshead. ($7.50 for 16-20oz, whatever the tap spits out) Pours a light yellow to slight orange with very minimal head. Again, goes back to how this was poured and the glassware. The old man was doing it so you got a better value, IE not 4" of head. Aroma is peach, honeysuckle flower, slight grass. Taste is very fruit forward to the front of the taste with stone fruit again dominating but then dissipates and becomes very sweet. Overall, not a bad DIPA but something I’d not buy a bomber of.

On tap @ Beachwood BBQ. Finally trying the regular version. Light amber colored beer with a white head. Smells tropical and peach candy forward. Big time pine, a touch of booze, and some caramel maltiness. Nice grapefruit, as well. Really intense palate. Tons of pine and resinous bitterness. Sweet caramel and peach candy, along with some pineapple. A bit of floral character, nice grapefruit, and oranges. Pretty solid, though a bit sweet.

My first rating for this new semi-local brewery. Bomber purchased at Holiday Wine Cellar ($7.99). Pours a very clear yellow-amber hue with two fingers of white foam. AROMA of sweet tangerine, pineapple and other tropical fruit, and pine. FLAVOR of peach/apricot, mango, grapefruit, and a hint of honey malt, but with some noticeable alcohol. Quite bitter but with hints of fruity sweetness. Despite the perceptible alcohol, this is readily quaffable with an interesting hop profile. (16, 825)

A well rounded IIPA. Plenty of all the good things that make a good IIPA a good IIPA. Would love to try again. Many thanks to StefanSD for the bomber! Maybe we can trade some day?? Hmmmmm?? Thanks mank!

22 oz. bottle, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma of pine, and a little skunky herbal hops. Flavour is quite herbal hoppy, with a little hemp, and pine. Quite herbally and dry piney, finishing on those notes. Highly drinkable and dry on the palate. A great by-the-books IIPA.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light pine aroma with dustiness. Pine and grapefruit flavor. Medium bodied. Good bitterness. Pine and grapefruit linger with light malt.

   AROMA 9/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 9/10   PALATE 5/5   OVERALL 18/20

Appearance: Pours a fairly clear yellow gold with quickly faded white head that remains a thick white cap of froath long after the pour.

Aroma: From a few feet away, you are blasted with grapefruit and sativa like dank. Other fruit like scents were ripe pineapple and mango. Simply incredible. Once you get past the hops, which is quite the task, you will get a faint whiff of sweet pale malt.

Taste: Strong initial hop bitterness, some juicy fruit flavors, very dry pale malt that finishes with dry earthy abrasive hops that linger.

Mouthfeel: Bone dry prickly bubbles. A little abrasive, and average carbonation.

Overall: This beer is money. I would put this in my top 3 IIPAs. It’s hoppy, bitter, aromatic, bone dry. Everything about this beer is what I would want in an IIPA. Reminds me of Port Brewing’s Mongo from back in the day.

650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a translucent gold color with a small white head that soon recedes to a fine film. The aroma is distinct with oranges, grapefruit and other assorted citrus scents. The taste, like the aroma, is a big blast of grapefruit, some oranges, a touch of pineapple and light pine resins. The malt base features a light biscuit but is fairly neutral. The palate is full and smooth with lively carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering pink grapefruit. Overall: Very tasty.
