COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of a “West-Coast” Imperial Red Ale. Upon first sip, this beer showcases a delicious malt bill worthy of any Red Ale. A face-melting 120 IBU’s quickly follows, however this extreme bitterness only compliments the bold and unique flavor packed into this outcast of an ale. We then age the finished beer in Whiskey barrels for a minimum of 3 months. What comes out is on of the most unique barrel aged beers you will ever have, with massive amounts of caramel, vanilla, oak and Whiskey notes. Fall/Autumn seasonal brew, bottles may be available through out the year. 120 IBU, 10.5% ABV

From the tap at the brewery and a very hazy brownish red ale.Smells very boozey and a light head. Not too much boozey and you can still taste a great amount of the red ale.

Cloudy amber pour, cream colored head. Nice mild bourbon and oaky notes right up front and balanced with some resiny/citrus hops. Not bad.

On tap at Urge as part of their Ironfire night. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with a thin tan head which fades to minimal lacing. Aroma is of toasted malts, rye bread, caramel, vanilla, oak, and sweet malts. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma with maybe just a little booze. Has a medium-full body with a pretty creamy mouthfeel and a semi bitter, medium-long finish. Overall, a pretty nice american strong ale that shows off barrel aging pretty nicely.

Bottle pours amber-brown with full one finger yellow head. nice looking beer. Aroma whiskey, vanilla, malt sweetness. Taste follows aroma with sweet caramel malts, whiskey, vanilla. Finish lots of oak and some hops. Palate not very thick but overall I liked the mouthfeel with the oak and hops giving it a spicy tingle. I enjoyed it.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours very hazy and darkly ruddy with a creamy beige head. Nice whisky aroma. Med + body. Flavor is caramel, treacle and lots of whisky. There’s definitely heat, but it’s coming out as flavor rather than irritating. There’s a lot of whisky flavor, but somehow it’s a lot mellower than most bourbons. Seems to be missing a lot of vanilla. With time there seems to be a fair amount of wood - but that normal astringency seems hidden - perhaps by the heat. This is very tasty stuff. The wood and heat make it seem dry, but at the end of each quaff there’s a sweet burst.

On tap @ Strong Ale 2013. Dark amber pour with a small off-white head. Aroma is really hop forward, surprisingly. Lots of grass and orange rind. Heavy oak character, whiskey, some vanilla, caramel, and chocolate. Flavor is quite bitter and chalky. Lots of tannic charred oak and whiskey. Some vanilla, orange, and grass. Hints of chocolate and caramel sweetness. Kind of watery mouthfeel. Disappointing.

Tap at Strong Ale Fest. Pours a full haze amber with wispy, low foam. Nose is bourbon, sweet tomato style bourbon, vanilla. Taste is excellent toffee, white chocolate, nice hop balance. Similar feel to some of the Upright Sole Comp barleywines. Really nice.

A cool beer. It’s being released monthly to showcase how the barrel quality changes in the beer month over month. Big whiskey notes, a nice malt character and the earlier versions had a decent hop profile. A nice offering.
