650 ml bottle from bev4less. Pours a murky dark brown color with a medium khaki head head that has fair retention. The aroma is strong with coffee, chocolate, hazelnut and mocha. The taste is similar to the aroma with the hazelnut really standing out. The coffees are similarly rich and strong and there is a bitter walnut hop presence. Most surprising to me is a lack of any real sweetness, just lots of roasted goodness. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with lingering coffee grounds. Overall: First rate stout, very tasty. This is only my second beer from this brewery and so far i have been impressed by them.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2015 Draught. Lingering sandy head like foam on a coffee / root beer float. Nose and taste are same: rich chocolate, nut and roast coffee ice cream pie with fudge icing and graham cracker crust. Taste is sweet like the best ice cream - an enhancer not the end to a marshmallow means. This is the reserve ice cream for adults. Bitter chocolate and bitter coffee or good bitter roast finish masterfully balances the recipe. Palate is smooth but filling enough for the best small, big coffee beer lover to nurse this alluringly libidinously decadent profligate pie of a 6% beer. Overall, rather roasty.

Bottle served in snifter: pours a deep cola brown with an okay head and minimal lace.Holy Hazelnut Coffee Man! Some roast and char too with faint mocha undertones. Honestly this is just too one dimensional and too lacking of body to enjoy the full bottle. Well at least they did not hold back on the Hazelnut so +1 there.

22 oz. bottle. Since when is drinking a beer supposed to be a challenge? "Feeling strong? Step up to SixKiller and see who’s boss!" Isn’t it more important to have a good tasting beer than to "see who’s boss"? This has a nice appearance, pours jet black with a creamy, khaki head that lasts and leaves thick lacing. Aroma is strong, bitter coffee with a slight hazelnut nose. Taste is dominated by astringent, bitter coffee, very little sweetness. The bitterness is kind of overwhelming, not very tasty. It does seem to get smoother after it warms up a bit. Medium to full body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and bitter finish. Not sure if I can finish this one. Another disappointment (too bitter) from a local brewery.

Appearance was clear black with creamy beige lasting 1 finger head, spotty lacing. Aromas are coffee, chocolate, hazelnut, brown sugar with cream. Taste are latte expresso shot upfront with chocolate, toffee hazelnut creamer mid swallow, then slight bitter baker powder at end. Palate was smooth creamy CO2 with medium body, then lasting coffee bitter finish. A solid coffee stout, needs to back down the bitterness a touch.

Dark black on the pour. Almost a morning coffee roasty aroma. Hints of dark chocolate and hazelnut with a light bitter and hoppy taste that finishes smoothly on the palate.

Bottle sent by GT2, thank you very much! Sampled 3/21. Pours a dark chocolate color with reddish cola tinge and creamy tan head, good lacing. Aroma is massive hazelnut coffee, slight roasted barley, slightly cardboardy, sweet malts. Taste is a bit of a letdown after the nose: hazelnut coffee, black chocolate, yogurty tang, lingering astringent hop bitterness, roasted barley, burnt toast, herbal hops. Slightly weak mouthfeel. Improves as it warms, though. I’d prefer more body and balance.

Had on tap at Crush & Brew, Temecula. $6.50 for the full pint. Pours jet black supporting a sudsy, thin khaki head,1 finger in length. Aromas of marsh rosemary, straw, candied sugar, cocoa nibs, DME, and farmhouse yeast. Tastes the same with the addition of baker’s chocolate powder, mildew, roasted lavender, and white truffle by mid-palate. Bitter hops, charcoal, bay leafs, pottery clay, and palm tree bark by swallow. Ruggedly astringent. Soothingly warming. Would have again.

The aroma is roasty, hazelnut, coffee, cream. The appearance is deep black, cream colored head. The flavor is roast coffee, hazelnuts, bitter chocolate. The finish is cream, roast, pine. Medium in body, slightly thick, creamy mouthfeel. Nicely done.

Draft at the brewery taproom. Pours rich brown with a creamy, tan head. Good balance here. Moderate roasted malts, milk chocolate, hazelnuts. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Still well balanced to finish with notes of ash, charred earth and baking cocoa. Solid stout.
