3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kevnic2008 (5714) - Baden-Baden, GERMANY - SEP 6, 2012
Brown colour with an off-white head. Nose is lightly malty, couldn’t pick up much more. The taste, however, is a much different story; notes of dark fruit, caramel, molasses, toasty malts and an alcohol tinge.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (7308) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - MAY 27, 2012
Creamy/yellow medium head over faintly cloudy foxy-orange beer. Sweet bready/leafy nose, ur-classical for a Ge dark(er) Bock. Slightly oxydated. Sweet to a dry-sih, bitterish-leafy finish. Dried apricots’ flaovur, liquerish. Slick, medium bodied, very light alcoholwarming. A good Bock with an unusual colour. Many thanks to Stefaan!
4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 darkseduction (440) - Zweibrücken, GERMANY - AUG 15, 2011
Bottle 50cl. Appetising unclear brown brew with creamy head. Wonderful elaborated malty hints, grainy sweetness. Underlined by a fine yeasty flavour gives this Bock a distinctive note. The best Dunkler Bock i drank so far.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 heavy (1956) - Split, CROATIA - MAR 31, 2010
18/03 0.5 l bottle from Bier-Spezialitäten-Laden, Berlin. It poured cloudy brownish body with small white head. Honey and licorice malty nose, but also had some herbal or citrus hops. Bittersweet flavor as it could be expected, honey malt dominated over herbal hops. Thinner body with shorter bittersweet finish, exactly copying the flavor. Yes, it’s odd and although it’s fine enough I didn’t particularly like it.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20 ogivlado (4990) - Zagreb, CROATIA - MAR 26, 2010
Bottled 500ml. -Courtesy of and shared with Doggythedog/heavy who brought it from Berlin (thanks!)
Honey/golden coloured, small white head, odd nose with notes of honey. Sweet malty, strong honey and weak hoppy with notes of some herbs. Short sweet finish and aftertaste. Boring beer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Marko (3613) - Split, CROATIA - MAR 20, 2010
Bottle from Bier-Spezialitäten-Laden, Berlin, shared with the Croatian crew. Poured a hazy honey/orange body with a tiny white head. Odd stale orangey nose, slightly oily, notes of pollen. Soft, sweet taste, pollen, candy or honey. Quite odd actually.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Quack-Duck (6811) - Down South, GERMANY - OCT 7, 2008
previously tested on German BTO 04/2007: Sieht gut aus, riecht fruchtig. Fruchtig-malzig, deutliches Röstaromen. Insgesamt etwas säuerlich, ich befürchte, dass es am Verderben ist, obwohl noch 2 Monate haltbar... Wird bei Gelegenheit nachgetestet.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JoeinEscazú (1324) - San Jose, COSTA RICA - NOV 27, 2007
Strong, dark, sweet and malty, with some coffee and cocoa aromatics. Good balance, but maybe a little thin for its strength. Still, a nice, warming quaffer for the fireside.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Dorqui (1768) - Brescia, ITALY - MAY 28, 2005
Bottled. Nice label. Dense and much supporter head, discreet persistence. Clear brown color, lightly loads and much bubbly. Intense and alcoholic scent. Decided taste with notes of caramel, coffee and alcohol. Much bitter and of good persistence finish.
