courtesy of laurent Mousson (WBA) - clear and bright reddish-brown colour with a persistent and solid beige foam; nice lacing; solid flowery hoppiness with a touch of chocolate underneath; notes of mango too; medium-bodied and quite soft palate; very bitter and with a very long flowery hoppy finish

Pretty flavourful for 5%. Nice full body and a nice bittering finish. Won’t blow you away but a nice session. Perhaps could use a bit more caramelly flavour for the style but still very good

On tap at McLoughlin, Kyoto. Deep hazy copper with a creamy off-white head. Fruity aroma. Intense hoppy citrus flavours, crisp finish. A bit hard. Quite a nice brown ale.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2010 Cask Version at Qbrick. Glowing orange-brown color. Complex aroma of caramel, toffee, dark fruits, pine, plum. A decent amount of piney, citrus hops in the flavor to perfectly balance the toffee and caramel. Great body and smoothness. Very enjoyable and exceptionally well balanced. The flavor of the malt in this one really comes out best in the Real Ale version.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2008 Bottled. Hazy brownish amber, rich head. Floral yeasty nose. Sweetish and fruity, medicinal with plenty of peachy hops. Soapy orangey and yeasty with lively spritzy mouthfeel Piney bitterish finish with a warming tingle. Isekadoyas style definitions may be somewhat unique, but they make good beers!

Tap @ Popeye’s: Clear caramel, nose of light caramel, some earthy notes from the hop. No body, thin flavor. Hmmm. The finish is pale and light, meh.

UPDATED: MAR 4, 2009 Mahogany brew shows life with tangerines and citrus notes on the nose. Starts hoppy, middle is hoppy with subtle bitterness, but I am left wondering what happened to the malt? Isn’t this a brown ale? No malt backbone at all and stylistically challenged. Still with the refreshing, subtly bitter finish it is a pleasant brew. That I won’t deny.
