India Pale Ale was originally intended to stand up over long voyages, loaded with hops to keep bacteria levels low. Our IPA may no longer have to endure long voyages, but we would never think about changing this recipe—to the delight of our hophead fans. Taking cues from lessons learned for making our pale ale, our IPA achieves an unequaled balance from each ingredient to form a stable and strong body with a clean aftertaste.

Notes from my backlog: Hazy deep orange pour with a fairly malty aroma- rich bready caramel and a mild piny spiciness. Mild carbonation. Oxidized, peppery malts- the hops are faded. Some light orangey citrus notes, but again are faded. Past it’s prime.

Cloudy IPA with a rich dark amber color. This is more beluga triple than IPA. Not an IPA fan but I liked it. Not bad. Pint bottle. Wines & More Mansfield, MA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is white bread, citrus and grainy malts. The flavor is citrus, earthy malts, bread, a small hint of chocolate and a tangy/bitter finish.

med amber color. Nice caramel and grapefruit nose. Med body, very flowery, grapefruit. Well balanced, but not too aggressive US IPA. Caramel just lingers at the end. Nice.

Tap. This is really good. A fairly hefty American hop profile, balanced by a smooth, understated but firm English IPA body. About as balanced a ’hop bomb’ as you will get.Definitely think this needs to be drunk on tap.

Draught at Qbrick (from tasting notes). Real ale, hand pump. Spicy citrus aroma , with some malt, and yeasty notes. Hazy orange color. Spice in initial(coriander), oranges / A bit thin in mid palate / Long finish, with a slightly metallic aftertaste. Good but not overly complex

500ml bottle pours a deep golden orange color with a huge white head that retains well and leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is light fruits and citrus and earthy hops. Taste is a pronounced sweetness that overpowers the earthy and citrusy hop bitterness to some degree. This beer has an interesting blend of flavors and is quite well done, but has a little bit too much sweetness for the style.

Bottle. Poured hazy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate grassy hop and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bitterswwet finish of medium duration. This a soft drinkable brew.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2011 Aroma is incredibly fruity with a small presence of earthy pines and hops. Appearance is a medium golden color with a huge white head. Taste is super fruity with a small creamy/crisp finish. The hop presence is not very noticable, I feel it is overwhelmed by the taste of the strong fruitiness. There is a lingering earthy/leafy aftertaste. Overall, this is moderately solid India Pale Ale. I’ve had great experiences with japanese beers and this is great. A very unique and outstanding taste, not similar to standard IPA’s at all. Although a little too much fruitiness for my taste. I would give this a B rating.

Poured a slightly opaque copper hue with a thick white head that faded to a half inch. Aroma had a strong malt note sweet caramel and some vanilla notes upfront, mild citrus followed. It seemed to have a barley wine quality to it. Flavor was very sweet, not cloying but still sweet. Caramel and brown sugar. Hops were mostly citrus but a slight pine presence in the background. A slightly dry finish. An interesting IPA.
