Three separate malts including one French pale malt shore up this clean, citrusy American-style Pale Ale. Apart from the malts, our namesake beer includes a secret combination of bitter hops including Cascade and locally-grown, ancient-style black rice to create something uniquely Japanese in character but easily drunk by all.

Lata. Nice clear deep golden orange colour, medium white head, creamy like. Pleasantly sweet fruity hoppy caramel bit malty aroma. Good mouthfeel. Flavour has fruity hops, some exotic fruitiness, sweet caramel, toastish maltiness, medium bitterness.

Can from Natural Lawson. Drank from the can. Very perfume-like aromatic hops with some herbal elements and light orange. Average carbonation with some crackery malts and bit of caramel. Dry, pithy finish with light pepper. Better than expected.

courtesy of Thomas Krüsi; canned - very hazy reddish-orange beer with a little foam left; aroma of tea and melon, perfumy and very aromatic; velvety palate, medium-bodied, assertive and fairly bitter; decently dry and long finish of tea and watermelon - charming and with lot of character

Pours clear golden amber. Bit of head. Aroma is quite simple. Bit of fruity hops, feels sweetish. Taste is also fruit side of a pale ale, really juicy actually. Light and easygoing fulfilling pale ale. I wonder where the fruits are coming from or is this really from rice. Nice.

Bottle, pretty old. Poured dark orange. Fruity and hoppy nose, some citrus and caramel. Creamy medium body. Hops and malts nicely balance to give some flavours of caramel, biscuit, some citrus. Would have again.

Can from Naiku shrine. Citrus and hop aroma, though not as much hops as a regular American pale ale. Tangy citrus flavour with mild hops. Smooth and light.

What a pleasant surprise, the can is totally in Japanese apart from the Sinto Beer across the front, so when I took a sip after a few weeks of Japanese lager it was a good surprise. Aroma is a bit subdued with some hoppiness, colour is orange amber with white head. Flavour is some apricot sweetness with some breadiness and pleasent hop finish. Great stuff, wish i bought more while in Ise.

Clear, light copper. Aroma is quite full of grass and earthy hops with just a little citrus. Medium bodied. Flavor is citrus, pine, and a little grass. Nothing special but it’s got a nice smooth, light bitterness and is refreshing. Ends with a decent bitterness.

Draught at Popeye, Tokyo. Clear amber - white head. Wet dog, rice, soya beans, knækbrød (swedish flatbread), toasted, sweetness, smooth body. OK.
