3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Half liter bottle - pours pale amber with plenty of offwhite head and decent lacing. Nose is grass and light citrus. My wife’s apathetic grunt said it all: meh. Light caramel presence. OK but nothing more. Light taste wise for the style. Light to mid-light bitterness with light sweetness.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is fruit candy, mild/medium sweetness and an odd tangy note. The flavor is citrus, malts, mild sweetness and a mix of odd tangy notes and mild bitterness in the finish.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Orange colored pour, tons of carbonation and a very bitter orange aroma. Flavor was very bitter orange, hops and some off flavors and seemed to be slightly oxidized. The excessive carbination made this hard to enjoy.

Bottle at REAL A Gastropub, Honolulu, HI
Cloudy light amber color, with big creamy head. The aroma is strong, hoppy, very grassy, with some yeast spices, animal, manly. Lean mouthfeel, dry; it has some malt flavor, strong hopping, with green and grassy character, some light soapy impression too. Long, bold and dry final.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bitter, but not overwhelmingly so. One of the best characteristics of this beer is its balance. Fruity with some resiny zing. Tropical with a medium body.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Wet hop aroma. Copper appearance with a massive foam. Odd, funky taste of skunky hops and an odd metallic flavor. Way too carbonated to enjoy. Overall, not good quality at all. Very poor quality.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
500ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that has excellent retention and leaves some thin spotty lacing behind. Aroma is floral and earthy with some light toasted notes. Taste is lightly fruity with some pale malt sweetness and a pleasing mild hop bitterness which is earthy and kind of leaf-like. A very interesting pale ale that is tasty and unique.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
bottle. hazed copper with a fine-bubbled off-white head. the rigidness of the head is remarkable, staying nearly two centimeters thick for a good 20 minutes, and likely more if let sit. the nose has an aggressive and overpowering bubble gum and gelatin candy fruit character, with chile and mint leaf phenols and a soft, acidic butter note. assertively hopped with remarkable softness, creaminess and velvetiness to the body. hops are excessively green, raw, leafy, wet and pungent. I could see this being a really fun experience if both the butter and the raw and astringent herbal hops were absent. it has some serious sweetness creep too - 15 minutes from the pour and it’s almost unbearable. the butter acidity becomes nearly intolerable as well. there’s still enough of what I like (soft, creamy carbonation with rigid and round malt to support both the sweetness and strong bitterness) to appreciate what it really could be in the best shape. sadly, the one store I happen upon this one, it is stored on a warm shelf in the light. shame! when will we see it standard practice for stores to train their employees to prioritize coolers for unpasturized, unfiltered and bottle-conditioned beer?

on tap at popeyes, summer 2008, listed as ise kadoya 3 hops pale ale in my notes. bright golden with a lasting slender white head; standard but pleasant pine and grapefruit aroma; decent zesty bitterness; nothing stand-out about it but solidly made
