3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 elihapa (1385) - Honolulu, USA - SEP 21, 2009
9/20/09 notes: on tap, brewery. Pours a hazy dark orange in color. Aroma has floral and soapy -- almost vegetal -- hop profile, hoppy but not entirely satisfying. Flavor heavily favors late-addition hops, with a bunch of hop resins and only moderate finishing bitterness. Flavor lingers, emphasizing spiciness, toastiness and a hint of flowers. A bit thin through the middle. Not as good or balanced as the pale ale.

Reviewed from notes.
Poured into a tulip. Color is a moderate orange color with almost no head and certainly not too much lacing at all. The nose is some really, rally light caramel with basically no hop presence at all. The flavor is really quite light with a bit of bread. Feel has no bitterness and only the tiniest bit of sweetness. No real reason to drink this. Nearly a drainpour.

terrible beer. Im sure it would taste somewhat better on tap, however; it is just not balanced. I would just drive on past this brewery. I was hoping for more from this local beer, but luckily this is not the only option for me as there are several other great breweries nearby.

Bottle from the source. Pours with practically no head...actually, there really isn’t any. Chill hazed amber golden body. Aroma of raisins, nuts, pine, chocolate, and everything you don’t think of when you think IPA. This beer is horrible. Green apple, dirty malt, super tannic from grain extraction (think sparging at 190*), soil, bitter, no hops. Really undrinkable! Probably the worst IPA that I have had. Drain Pour.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 IrishBoy (3339) - Bakersfield, California, USA - MAR 26, 2010
Bomber from BevMo, Salinas. Nose of light citrusy hops and a balancing caramel malt. Clear copper with a medium pale beige head. Flavor is moderate bitterness, moderately infected, and a little toffee note. Drinkable but only a mediocre IPA with the infected bottle.

On tap at the Beachside Cafe in Goleta. Orange with a creamy head that leaves tight lacing. Light pine and herb aroma. The flavor started ok, with toasty malt and some modest bitterness. The hops were a bit flat, with pine and light grapefruit peel. After a few sips, there emerged a oily, buttery component that grew all the way through the glass. By the end, I could barely finish it. The flavor is pretty bland for an IPA to begin with, and the addition of what was surely a good dose of diacetyl made this one that I would stay away from in the future.

This had an average head.Color nice amber.Had on tap at brewery. It had a decent hoppyness to the brew.A bit tad boring.Medium body for an IPA.This a somewhat good IPA,but not a great one. There are lots of IPA’s that are far better.Worth a taste.
1.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 OldMrCrow (1419) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUL 14, 2006
UPDATED: JUL 15, 2006 Pours brown with very little head.
The aroma dominated by a pungent phenolic smell of rubber cement; this thing has to be infected. There are probaboly some hops and so forth in under there, but so taken aback by the strong, nasty chemica aroma here that it’s hard to ever pick that up. The favor is weak and disappointing, of course of hops, some reasonably nice caramel malts, lemon, but again dominated by that chemical astringency that is simply unpleasant and that leads into a soapy bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is way off the tail end of flat. A drainpour.

Pours with an amber body topped by a thick head with decent lacing. The aroma is Citrusy and hoppy with a slight sweetness and a little sourness. Umm...not quite sure about the flavor. It tastes kinda like a belgian beer but nothing close to an IPA. It’s slightly sweet and malty with a little spice. Medium bodied and smooth.

pours a golden color with a very large head and lots of lasting lacing. aroma is fruity and light with slight floral hints, just kind of blah! flavor is absolute crap, this beer must be infected. skunky and funky like a really shitty gueuze. definitely a drain pour!!
