Cask; Regular.
The addition of roasted malt produces a rich brown beer and mouthfeel, counterbalanced by sufficient hops to rise to the nose and to refresh the throat of the most parched of sailors in a subtle complexity of flavours and texture found only when brewed with integrity in ingredients.

Cask at the Waterfront Inn, IoW during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours clear, amber-gold with a white foam head. The nose has lightly sweaty grains with secondary leafy notes. Light sweet flavor with some decent citrusy hops, orange, grainy bread, light earth and leaves, some peppery aspect. Light bodied with fine carbonation; good condition. Moderate sweetness to finish with more toasted grains and mild rindy orange. Decent bitter.

A dark amber going on brown colour. Aromas of malt, toffee and nuts. The taste is a of malts with notes of hazelnuts, toffee and salt. There is a harsh, slightly metallic, taste as well from the hops. A little too astringent for my taste. The finish is really bitter, but not entirely in a good way.

Cask. Clear hazelnut brown with a medium sized good lacing off white head. Dark bread, grain, leafy greens, wood, nuts, dough, light rotten eggs, mushrooms. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, light/medium sweet and medium bitter. Long dry wooden finish. A bit dirty but has some good aspects as well.

Cask at the Waterfront Inn Shanklin, during the IOW Jolly Day, 24/08/14. Clear golden amber with a good sized light beige/off white covering - a decent looker! Nose is not so good, sulphuric wafts, light bread, straw, burnt tones. Taste comprises mellow fruits, light cherry, biscuit tones. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, semi drying close with light bitterings. Mediocre stuff.

Cask at the the Waterfront Inn, Shanklin during the IoW Jolly. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is a bit eggy, sulfurous, mushroom and toasty grain. The taste is lightly bitter, toasty, grainy, brown bread, light caramel and some of that eggy notes. Medium body and fine carbonation. Dodgy eggy bitter.

McTapps (4566) - Ruhrcity, North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - AUG 15, 2014
Bottle bought at co-op in Cowes. Pours out in a light hazy amber-light brown colour with low head and medium to crisp body. Aroma of hops and straw with some pine hints. Taste of bitter hops, light barley, oak, leaves, light malt and green nuts. Bitter finish. Refreshing and quite tasty, yet it lacks a little bit of body and deepness.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Nice touch of the sea with some salt and heavy bitterness combined with a dry ending. Bit one dimensional but offering some crispy moments, hay and spruce. That bitter and dull ending kills all that well built up aromas. Tough to get used to that one.
