1.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
500 ml bottle.
Pours a dark copper colour with a white thick head. Aroma of sour berries, honey, grass and some biscuit. Flavour is something completely different; vegetables, massive sourness, wort, straw and plastic. Light bodied, high carbonation and a repulsive stingy sour finish. Completely ruined and undrinkable. Aroma was not that bad.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle at the brewery. It pours clear amber with a thick white head. The nose is wood, leather, grain and light spice. The taste is wood, leather, earth, light bitterness and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A pretty reasonable and drinkable bitter by all accounts.

500ml bottle brought back from Islay by a friend. Pours dark orange with decent white head. Distant aroma of spicy orange. Taste is also a bitter orange with unsweetened biscuit. Also a slight taste of leather or rubber but not in a bad way. Decent.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottled, thanks oh6gdx! Cloudy orange. fruity nose with peach, plastic and chalk. Sweetish with light body. Like most Islay ales it is predominantly chalky - here with an addition of plastic and rubber. Peachy hops before a finish with some chemical bitterness. Quite unpleasant.

0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 2/20
Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium to dark amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain), trace hops (apricot), with strong notes of burnt plastic/vinyl/linoleum and electrical fire, light note of vegetables/DMS.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter, very unclean.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Absolutely horrific...the aroma is almost nothing but burnt plastic, like a vinyl couch set on fire, along with fried wiring. Extraordinarily unpleasant, and the aftertaste is so abhorrent that it’s literally gag-inducing. Truly shocking. Probably the worst beer I’ve had in five years or more. What the hell happened?

In bottle at the Islay hotel. Pours a dark amber colour with a fair yellowish beige head. Aroma of grassy hops, Weetabix, musty yeast and treacle. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2011 Bottle at Nessie’s. Fruity, lightly herbal and minerally, sweet nose with a huge yeast component, head is impressively large and beyond Belgian standards. Amber body and that huge rocky beige head to play with. In the mouth, bitter and dry with some lightly-puckering malic acid. Clean medium-full body still manages to coat somewhat. Really strong mineral character from the yeast, though I’ve been careful with the bottle.
