Bottle. Unclear medium amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate hoppy, flowers, grass, moderate yeasty, yeast, light to moderate smoke (smoked peat). Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (301007)

Bottled. Reddish brown. A bit sweeter and more gentle and rounded than other Islay beers. Grassy finish with some bitterness.

Cask, White Hart, Port Ellen. Brown, somewhat hazy. Mostly caramel nose with some earth. Somewhat juicy, but with toasty character in the finish. Good, mellow and complex.

Bottle at home ... coper thin lacing ... soft toffeee fruits ...over fizzy ... ,ellow toffee ... dull ... little sharpness but not sour ...

Cask conditioned - handpump - Market Porter London. A mid brown coloured beer with whitish bubbles for a head. The aroma had a little fruit, but the beer was served so cold it was difficult to ascertain much from the noce. The taste was very bitter, but again the temperature probably masked its true colours and didn’t allow much to flourish. Shame as I only had ten minutes to kill in this mecca.

Yeasty aroma with whiskynotes. A little sourish. Sour flavor from citrus, grapefruit and hops. Quite watery finish.

Cask @ The White Hart, Port Ellen. Nice amber hue with a tight head. The aroma is nicely balanced with earthy, spicy hops. Juicy body. The malt flavors are lovely and they shine from a fresh cask. The flavors are balanced and nicely bready. Slight toastiness throughout and a lingering toasty finish. Very nice bitter.

Gravity, Reading Beer Festival. Dull amber session bitter with a nice balance but little interesting character. A darkly hoppy traditional example.
