3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 chriso (7065) - London, - FEB 21, 2011
Cask (gravity dispense) at Pigs Ear Beer Festival, day 2 (beer #14) on 1 December 2010. Copper colour. No head. Not much sign of gin. Doesn’t really taste 7.5%, although there is a little alcohol warmth late on. Not really sure what’s going on here to be honest. Odd, but not unpleasant.

Cask (gravity) @ 27th Pigs Ear Beer and Cider Festival 2010, at The Round Chapel in Hackney, London, England
Clear medium to dark red amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, wood - glue, rubber notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. Odd beer ! [20101201]

2nd December 2010 Pigs Ear. Clear brown beer, no head. Low carbonation, semi dry palate. Tastes vaguely porterish with a little dark malt in the taste (but not the appearance). Some semi sweet dried fruit underneath. Finishes dry with a little more porterish like malt. A trace of gin? Or is that the power of suggestion. Okay if a little odd.

A Sim rate (cask at Pig’s Ear): Aroma of cheesy wine. It’s rich and plummy but also off-puttingly sour. Taste of plum and white wine. Woody. "Is it aged in a gin barrel?" "It’s aged in a gin bottle!"
